Oh, and yes, Bran does need to fire the chairman. Sad, but true. Unfortunate. Otherwise, great ammunition for PLP on the campaign trail - and trust me they know how to use any ammunition to get ten times its normal firepower.
Avidreader is correct. They need a coaltion of some of Minnis people LBT people, bran and greg moss people. All four stand on camera same time and announce their slate of candidates. Even coalition. Let Bran be PM, but he will know that the Loretta-effect will be waiting for him if he steps too far out of line (ie. a number of them get together and write the GG again, and he gone).
Teamwork. Coaltion. OR we get currency devaluation. Every single person voting PLP in this election needs to prepare themselves for their dollar to be devalued to 20 cents by September.
I think almost every commenter on this post is lost. Loretta is putting together a coalition with the DNA and perhaps others. Branville is saying he is not aware of any coalition at this time. TRUE - there is none at this time, it is still being put together - negotiated.
He is not dumb enough to think DNA can win on their own. There will need to be a coalition of DNA with Loretta's people (likely not all seven of them will choose to run) - and some of Greg Moss's (UPM) people (which is a coalition party formed by joining his UDP and the People's Movement a few weeks ago).
Such a combined group will sweep the PLP out of office - where they may not even get one seat. The people will benefit by having a group that have to compromise and keep each other on point. The PLP can only win if they have a few people voting for them, and if FNM and others refuse to show up to vote for new people.
If the Bahamian people stay home or refuse to vote for new people (like UPM combined with DNA/Re7) and allow the few idiots that will vote PLP to place the PLP back in power - then we deserve to have another downgrade and our currency to reduced to ten cents on the dollar. We will have basically asked for it. Remember, the PLP cannot win unless they have a least a few people vote for them. Where will you find a few people to vote for them? Will you import them from abroad? Surely nobody living in this country could do it.
The UPM will win the most seats in the next House, will smaller numbers of seats for the DNA and RE7. It will be a coalition. Zero seats for PLP. Zero.
In such case, it would be wise for the new Govt to appoint some PLPs to the Senate simply to preserve their voice in Govt - because ALL voices should be given a chance to be heard. If PLP wins no seats in the House, I would hope the new coalition will give them 2 senate seats.
I'm not registered because I haven't heard any official word that the fax machine has been fixed yet since it failed during the night of the last referendum. Do they have a backup fax machine - or are they going to use the much more reliable carrier pigeons? Maybe they could check with Jamaica or Barbados or Canada or such places and learn how they are able to transmit voting tallies from all their voting booths to district hq and eventually to the main hq. Somebody has to have figured this stuff out already - LOL.
People say that the PLP may win re-election in 2017 due to split votes among the opposition. I understand the mathematics of that 100%, having a professional background in math. However, the math also requires that there at least be a certain (non-zero) percentage of people that do indeed vote for the PLP.
I have not heard of a large group of escapees from Sandilands, so I must conclude there are a goodly number of persons out there who, even now, would choose voluntarily to cast their vote for this crew yet again.
If there are enough of them, to elect them even with a split opposition, then we simply deserve to die as a country - to have our currency devalued, and to continue to drift downward. It is simply the will of the people. I believe in democracy, and I say if the people want more outside toilets, then for Christ's sake give them to them. Gotta watch those rising Amazon dot com prices though. That ga be funny for people to learn.. Just like most Bahamians didn't understand the difference between Opposition Leader in the House, and Leader of a private political party - they ga learn why the $9.99 tingum on Amazon soon ga cost $17.35
I agree to a large extent with your remark - however, I would point out that dudes #1, #2, and #5 in your list above were all duly elected by the Bahamian people. So that means they received thousands of votes!!!!!! All blame cannot be put on them - but much must rest upon the shoulders of the voters who had seen them in action prior to election day. In other words, perhaps leave the "w" off of your last word in your paragraph.
So after we force Haitians in this country to pay SOME level of taxes by us not removing VAT from the price controlled food items, this is their revenge? They will take our port fees that we pay on those very same food containers and use it to upgrade their harbour in Haiti.
Remember the money that this company has to "invest" comes from profits on our commerce.
Wonderful. Maybe they really are smarter than us. Maybe we deserve to die as a nation due to our stupidity.
