Yeah, it's funny the causes attach themselves to. The only 2 causes we really have should spend any energy on in this country right now are:
1. The Freedom of Information Act;
2. The invasion of our country by other cultureS seeking to destroy our own culture. People need to ask the question - do Bahamians deserve to survive as a unique people with language, history, and culture? Or is it just politically correct that we be wiped out by becoming an unrecognizable minority?
I don't see how him being in charge of a "staff association" is any threat to anybody. If he were in charge of Rape Investigations or something, maybe that would be a concern. Too bad he is being classified by these people as guilty before trial.
Why bother having a trial? Just bring out the lynch mob - I guess that's what they want.
I know that one of the requirements of opening a business chequing account is to have a business license. The bank wants a copy of that.
Instead of questioning why the Canadian banks won't do business with him, he should be questioning why the Bahamian Govt won't give him a business license.
That's exactly right. Pay the people what you have in your budget as their salaries, and stop foolin around.
I wonder if the lost revenue from the lost airlines and the extra money to keep contingency workers on hand - is more than the $50,000 that they owe the workers in the first place? Probably yes.
Govt needs to stop waisting money on foolishness, and stop borrowing money so all our money has to go abroad to pay debt interest.
Why? Do you think people should have to work without being properly paid? If so, then why not make the salary of an air traffic controller ZERO. Tell him/her that their family will be killed by the Government unless they go up in the tower and do their duty. No need to pay them at all.
Your comment shows a lack of knowledge of the real situation in working for Govt. People wonder why Government workers are in many cases mean and nasty and unhelpful. The answer lies in a little department called the PSC - an arm of the Public Service Commission - which refuses to give persons even the most simplest of acknowledgments - such as a letter after they are transferred to a new post stating that they are now officially in that post and the salary they are currently earning. Workers go for many many years - sometimes moving to 3 or 4 different posts - before they get the very first letter concerning their 2nd posting.
The response you get as a government worker is basically - shut up and wait and be thankful you have a job, a govt job at that, at least you can borrow money from the bank. People out there looking for work and ya'll complainin? Shut up and do your job like the black slave you are.
This is the attitude, and it seeps out throughout our whole society. Next time you standing in that line, or the next time you return to a government office with ALL the papers they told you last week that you needed to bring and now this week they tell you that you need one or two more papers - remember what I told you above and you'll know why they "suddenly" remembered that you needed these "new" documents also. And don't even get me started on "lost" files.
How much was paid down through the normal process, and how much from VAT revenue. How much was added to the debt by interest.
All figures for that 3 month period.
The Govt wont give this info because the people don't really care, and don't really want it anyway. The Govt knows this because they know the people will always vote either PLP or FNM no matter how badly they are treated - so they ain't checkin.
Correct. The Bahamian people only saw fit to give the DNA 8% of the total vote, and not even one seat in Parliament. So they have no other voices in Parliament to speak for them except the same old PLP and the same old FNM.
Them Bahamians mussey like the "same old". So that's what they get.
It is disgusting and stupid and impossible to believe that with all the hell Freeport was going through during election time - the people there did not see fit to give even ONE seat to the DNA. Also Nassau Village, Bain Town, Long Island - all of them suffering from unemployment and a down-trodden economy. But they still vote for the same Jacks. It's hard to feel sorry for them.
