Many of you on here know me to be a very avid follower of the news. That being said, I have never heard of the Bahamas Press Club.

Does that mean anything?

Sure it does.

Perhaps they themselves seldom get covered in the press. LOL

Yes, God forbid that Bahamians should be paid very well for their service. Don't worry, though, that "top group" (as the article calls them) will be paid super duper well, for sure.

Absolutely correct. All I see Minnis doing is nipping at the heels of whatever the PLP does. Every week it's a different story.

They do not seem to have any grand plan for moving forward.

They do not concentrate of MAJOR issues like the Freedom of Information Act, reform of the Constitution, Govt spending, and a balanced budget along with tackling foreign debt.

How come they let go of the VAT issue? Where is the VAT money going? How much was the debt on Dec 31st 2014? And how much is it today? How much increased by more borrowing, how much by interest, and how much paid down from the normal methods prior to 2015 and how much paid down from VAT? Minnis could be asking these questions every week - but instead he hops on whatever clown thing the PLP puts on the stage for this week's entertainment.

He needs to focus on the steering wheel, and the radar, not the fiddlers on the deck of the ship. I wish him the best in his efforts to help our country however he can - before we hit the iceberg.

Wonder why everyone there voted for ALL foreign-resident board members? Did Galanis run for a board seat? How many votes did he get?

All you can do in these cases is sell - but of course new owners need approval of the Board and they will decline purchasers if you make a big stink.

So the answer is to just be quiet and sell out with a smile. That is really all you can do.

Concerned - you have a good point, but I think Dr. Rodgers' point is of a higher caliber. He is talking about the entire mechanism of investment which has to do with hundreds of millions of dollars each year. With respect, you are only talking about a few t-shirts and some hots dogs. Your point, however, is very valid.

Dr. Rodgers', however, is asking for trouble at the end there when he mentions how FDI is all approved by Cabinet. He wants that to be largely taken away from them. Of course, we all know the internal mechanics of how that system works (wink wink), and I doubt there will be any change in that system unless we have another Burma Road sized protest - with a full out march down Bay Street, shut the whole country down for 2 weeks, and have a whole new set of MPs sworn in etc etc etc.

You notice we haven't yet heard back on that story that broke about 2 months ago about the Bahamians that have accounts in the Swiss Bank that is under some kind of lawsuit in the states, and names were named.

You think you'll ever hear the names? You think you'll ever get FDI removed from Cabinet approval? It think the answers to both questions are linked tightly together.

But, you see, the majority of kids coming out of school the last several years with their D averages - have no idea what we're talking about. That is by design. The Govt loves those D average people who they can buy some beer and chicken for every five years so they can "Mark dey X"

It's not what I'm aiming at. It's what WE are aiming at. We are trying to create the Northern District of Haiti (apparently) and being very successful so far.

If you have no foresight to see the disaster ahead, then I guess just sit back and watch the show.

Thing get tougher and tougher every year - but apparently not tough enough yet for some dreamers to understand.

Your dream will come true. Fred Smith is getting the International community to come down on us hard and force us to accept poverty as a way of life. We will have no choice.

TheMadHatter says...

Glad it pissed you off. Try to organize a national strike or something. What can you do? What can any of us do instead of talk? How can we get people to come together?

TheMadHatter says...

Too bad he didn't use his POWER while he was in power. Now his talking is no more useful than any of us breathing hot air talking and talking and talking and talking.

Anybody can talk when they don't have the power. Why did he sit around for years as Governor General and let the country go to hell?

TheMadHatter says...

Bahamians continue to invest in Haitians instead of business - and the results speak for themselves.

TheMadHatter says...

The Haitians are taking over Spanish Wells, and Harbour Island, and Royal Island in north Eleuthera.

Clearly no banks are needed for cash-only operations.
