Y'all are missing the real point: The evac B.S. is stopping you all from reading further in the act
Read past that first clause.
The rest aught to scare the hell out of all of us.

Core Competencies, what a novel thought, nowhere to be found in a political campaign.
nowhere to be found post election.
Nowhere to be found post disaster.
Nowhere to be found in bum rushed Legislation.
Mandatory evacuation is un-enforceable.
the other provisions as yet un debated are far more concerning.
Seems the opposition and house are hung up on the least of the potential evils.
Or maybe they salivate at the thought of total control.

Wow, a serious change at the top of an agency involved in the critical aftermath of the catastrophe in Abaco. All the best Deputy Commander King.

The_Oracle says...

Seems that the xenophobia originates with Government, given their statements and actions, and their haste.
And yet successive Governments have created the "problem" if it must be called that.
Shameful,

The_Oracle says...

Them thinking that they alone can restore Abaco is sure to seal their demise.
Don't like the alternative either but something about defecating where you eat comes to mind.
Sad that a disaster is needed to wake the Bahamian people up to how little the government (either party) is worth when the Stuff hits the fan.

Maybe he is preparing Maxwells to be seized fully stocked by the Nema/Defense force/ Minister and Ministry of Disaster.
Ya'll better read the legislation they're ramming through the house.

The_Oracle says...

I'd be putting as much distance between myself and this government also.
Only the first of the many rats that will be leaving the sinking ship.
(not to infer Mr. Chipman is a rat. purely a metaphor for the exodus to come)
Creating more ministries and Government hierarchical structure to overcome the failed Government Hurricane relief structures is the epitome of stupid.
Creating Legislation to grant more power in order to overcome Government paralysis and inaction is also the epitome of stupid but added to that it is dangerous.

Realize that had China promised 30, 300, 3000 or 3 million 40 ft containers of relief aid,
It would only just be arriving......... 6 weeks +lead time.
Fake Ramen noodles anyone?
Realize that the aid that has been arriving since the second day after the storm across a still churned up Gulf Stream all came by private boats and yachts. (and aircraft) US private boats Yachts, aircraft.
The relief workers and NGO's all arrived from the U.S.
And continue to do so. AST no cost to the Bahamas Government or its people.
Just to set the record straight.

On China's aid unwanted? Nonsense

Micro grids do make sense, but how is it possible under URCA's latest consultation document?
Pure garbage designed to pander to BEC/BPL.

The carnival port will require dredging, just east of Sharp rocks. A Jetty projecting out off of the coast and a canal inward.
South side only though, the flood plain is from the north to south.
