Thus far I am not impressed by those in supposed leadership positions in G.B.
I will refrain at this time from any direct comment to allow them time to pull their collective thumbs out of their backsides. Open the doors to relief efforts, scratch your damn forms and applications, check the incoming stuff for contraband and get the hell out of the way.
This is far beyond the capabilities of Bahamian government agencies.
I see no Chinese hardware flying overhead, I see U.S. assets.
Whatever they've offered, accept!

A serious suggestion for Government: stand clear of relief efforts, assist Do Not do the usual appropriation of imported donated supplies.
The private sector mobilizes 5 times as fast and 5 times as large and the supplied go where needed, quickly.
Your interference will discourage the efforts, as it has in the past.
Facilitate.
Your greatest resource is people. Money helps but people drive recovery efforts.

No mention of the "shades of brown/black" discrimination or prejudice"?
Conversation is fine, opinion is fine, Intelligent discussion a different thing.
Our collective skin is still too thin.
Always with the results/effects discussions of a core issue, never addressing the core issue itself,
Same in politics, competency, honesty, and truth.

Lithium batteries last for more than two years, Mine are guaranteed for 10, do not need to fill a room, and store excess for night time use or in the event of an outage.
They also do not outgas Hydrogen and oxygen when charging at high levels like lead acid batteries do.
Systems are getting smarter, and the industry is innovating ways around defunct utilities (BEC/BPL) or hostile to grid tied utilities.(Hawaii, Arizona, South Carolina etc)
While some states are moving forward, others are moving back. Utilities want to maintain control, reap traditional profits. Legislators being the dumb asses they are are easy targets for unions and utilities.
The current Bahamas "national policy" for what it is is already obsolete.
Solar has existed in the Bahamas for at least 38 years that I know of personally, and back them it was 42% duty and damned expensive to start with.
Misinformation is in abundance and clouds the facts, and much education is needed.
But it does work.

Proximity demands preparations, as it can change overnight.
It can wander away or towards, and even turn back (Betsy, and another more recent)
Shutters up, debris secured, earlier the better.
why get caught out?

Precisely. If the Government could stand on high ground re: efficiency, honesty, fiscal prudence, internal investigation with end results (dismissal, prosecution for evidence)
then perhaps people could feel relatively confident their taxes were being well spent on the public good.
Of that we have no evidence or confidence.
If the Politicians would stop promising everything they cannot and actually deliver that which they should then maybe things would improve.
I see nothing to indicate anything has changed except the talk of fiscal prudence and balanced budgets.
Talk.

Blaming airBnB for local issues is missing the boat and point.
If foreign investors are building houses to place on VRBO and AIRBnb you have an investment authority issue: the Policy is? The Law says?
If Neighborhoods don't like them you have a covenant issue, or homeowners association issue.
Boutique hotels have a market as does the house rental market, as does the Mega Resort.
Look within your own strategy and adapt. This Protectionist position is finished, especially with WTO looming. We have two issues re visitors: Lack of rooms and lack of airlift.
We aught to be maximizing all the above.

Govt has no money to fix bec/bpl, No money for leasing floating power plants,
What makes you think they got $20mil for loans?
Notwithstanding the fact that BEC/BPL doesn't want Solar, it will rob them of bill paying customers, leaving them with non bill paying political customers.
Government knows it too. One look at the Solar regulations shows the political limitations imposed.

Your VSEP packages are compelling me to Finally give up and switch to the other pathetic service.
Two weeks can't get a land line fixed, which affects the DSL/internet.
Tried reporting online, 3 times no reply with service number, NO answer at the reporting line either,
I'm not gonna deal with two service providers so there went a large company, T-1, internet, land line and cells, personal/residential for all the above as well.
Is everyone lined up outside to collect?
Anyone left?
