Okay folks, the issue is non functioning lights at Marsh Harbor airport, meaning Bahamasair has to get in and out before dark? This precludes the second stop at Treasure Cay airport. If the Above is correct, it is on the Government. From the Article or release, who the hell knows!
He will have no problem with Solar as long as the union and BEC/BPL are able to control or hobble it. The 100Kw limit is garbage, the system limits are garbage. No, we will study, pontificate, and start the whole ball all over again after the next election. Cool thing is, if there is no grid, there will be no union. Maybe they'll reorganize around candles and kerosene.
Mauras, Maura Lumber, Home Furniture, Taylors, G.R.Sweeting, Iron Mongery, J.S. George, Shirley St. Theater, Bahamian Lumber, Some have been gone a long time, others held on for a long time.
Government cannot run a simple post office, and they think they can run healthcare? Something seriously wrong with our elected, Are we really that stupid/ gullible/naive? We cannot afford the Government's existing boondoggles/waste/fraud/slush/kickbacks.
The scooter rental business is ridiculous in this day and age, terrible local drivers, crappy roads and traffic congestion coupled with tourists who rent scooters but haven't even been on a bicycle since childhood.(and who are mostly used to right hand traffic not left hand!) small electric vehicles (cars) are perfect for rentals and afford some bodily protection. Same with the open 4 wheelers being rented. Not meant for street use, high center of gravity. The enclosed open Car type are probably a bit safer.
No matter who renews or assumes the contracts with Government for the supply of power east and west of the Port area, profits will be expected. New Solar power plants do not come cheap, nor are they maintenance free. Unfortunately Ingraham sold the peoples souls to the devil for political expediency, much as he allowed the selling of 50% of the Port Authority and assets to Hutchinson. That has worked really well for G.B. While URCA is the national regulator and Freeport is still within the Bahamas, the GBPC position of not acknowledging URCA in any way shape or form is working for them. Meanwhile, URCA is struggling with their own rats nest in Nassau (bec/bpl) The silence from the GBPA is deafening. Pathetic for a regulator, at least URCA makes the occasional noise.
First rule of LED lights: get them with 100-250v power supplies or BEC will fry them within months. Ask GBPC about their experience with LED streetlights, I doubt 20% still work. Second point, do these people realize how dumb they sound with every comment or statement? Must we be last on every damn thing in the world that makes sense?
Legit shop fronts will disappear, road side shacks/vendors will increase. Roadside operators will pay to remain un-harassed, much as they do now. Government revenue will drop, Government rhetoric louder. Ironic the Government stands on the shakiest ground ever, but demands good standing from the private sector.
