A politically "softened" approach no doubt was taken by RBC, after all, they are a significant lender to the Government.
however the raw truth would have been infinitely more harsh.
Fiscal ruin is a well worn path that politicians like to walk.
Mainly because someone else will pay for it, while their $$ is elsewhere.
I believe he (James Smith) presided over his fair share of it too.

So, 2.5 million VAT $$ committed, no doubt they're offering/throwing more of it away on private property while begging the for profit operator to stay.
who teaches these idiots how to negotiate???????????
Sorry about the caps Banker!

They aught to all boycott and not register.
They'll be griping soon enough with the Government all up in their business as they go out of business!
Government can barely run those things they are directly responsible for. The Courts, The Police, Defense force, Immigration, Customs, the Prison system. Things outside of those that they have ruined include Education, Public health, Garbage collection, permitting, lands and surveys, and a host of others.
How people can think all of a sudden they will win a competency lottery is beyond me.

Oops, there goes her work permit, if she resides here.
Nothing like the truth to singe political feathers.

Good catch Tal, I'd be curious!

You are right sheeprunner, however the only bird most Bahamians are familiar with and can identify is KFC or the doves and Pigeons that pick on the bones we throw out the car windows!
Funny you use the term "own" as opposed to "Invest in" like they just miraculously acquire land and buildings, boats with good looks.

Of course it is political! If ZNS was in the business of making money, or in the business of furthering political discourse, they would be begging for alternate views.
Everything in this G.D. country is corrupted by politics, which is why it is dying economically, morally and in collective intelligence.
It is a long road we have been perfectly happy to ride down, then walk down, soon to be crawling down.

Amazing (and sad) that we seem to gobble up the petty personal digs and jabs these fools lob at each other which incidentally seems to be all they're good for.
Sure ain't good at proper Governance!
Looking at track records, all those who have been and are Prime ministers, have failed.
Minor successes perhaps, but in sum, failures. (but damn good at self enrichment)
Minnis has not yet failed, as he has not yet been Prime Minister.
For me that is a genuine plus! Might he fail? Perhaps. Might he succeed? Maybe.
For sure he has been stabbed in the back, a common occurrence in politics.
Seems a common Bahamian trait in General.

On PM: Minnis is a minor player

An armed society is a polite society. Or if you prefer, outlaw guns, and only outlaws will have guns.
However, a prerequisite for an armed society is an educated society, largely lawful.
That has long since gone out the window.
Perhaps you will remember the warning given by Commissioner BK Bonamy, late 70's, at a speech at COB, following a police conference he attended in Jamaica?
Perhaps the Tribune could follow up and retrieve a copy to re-print.
It would appear quite prophetic.
