For additional information, always use LED bulbs or fixtures rated 100-250 volts, which gives them much greater surge and spike resistance, especially with our erratic power grid. Many LED lights are rated 120Volts specifically, these will blow/burn out in much shorter times. To the local vs. foreign purchase, different subject covered by Caveat Emptor, In everything. Let the Buyer Beware.
Who needs personal wealth when you can pillage a national treasury? Banker is right, the political persecution, pillaging, starting before the PVC pipe scandal! Madam editor, please refresh the memories of those who have forgotten or were not taught the balance of history. All the expats given two weeks to pack and leave, private companies taken from owners, school teachers threatened and replaced with unqualified political stooges. 6 million in the treasury No real national debt, then poof! money gone! More than one civil servant resigned lest they be called to account for the queens money! that is right, the tiefin started before independence. It hasn't stopped yet.
Grand Bahama power lost many poles in Francis, Jean and Wilma, but I'd be willing to bet most of those were rotten poles long overdue for change out. While they may have built a new power plant, and de-commissioned the old #13 turbine, they have not maintained the grid, nor residential power transformers. They just keep adding homes to the existing transformers. The Phase angle is horrific, as is the frequency. The Port Authority as regulator, is more concerned with their Kwh sold rider income $$ and rates, much like URCA, with little or no technical expertise. To give lower rates to the industrials and the lowest residential tier means charging others more. Upkeep of the grid, substations and poles falls under repairs and renewals, not directly on the consumers bill!
His ignorance shines through every day he opens his mouth. Perhaps he is internally conflicted, after all, he has helped create the very Bahamas he seems so frustrated with! Perhaps the cushy ride while nice has left him bitter and is near its end. How easily he lashes out, like the spoiled child never taught manners or compassion.
You forget that the H.C.A. precedes the Latest Garbage legislation to emerge from the House.... So much time is spent validating and justifying Government actions lawfully when none of the laws in the country are respected or followed, specifically by Government! They just do what they damn well want. The Law proscribes what the civil servant or Minister can do, the Private citizen can do anything save break the law. They now do whatever they want, and we can only do what they allow..... And we wonder why the country is a mess.
Aught to revoke his QC for this statement, although we know his QC was a local political gift. What is amazing is that the Village idiots all find themselves in politics and law. Neither must be a very difficult profession. Certainly very little competence visible. We have been remiss in prosecuting Political fraud and theft though, to our detriment. It attracts others of the same ilk.
Beaches up to the high watermark are still public, the issue is crossing private land to get to them. There is no law that I'm aware of forcing beach front privately owned land to allow egress, save those few rights of way. Go by boat and no one can stop you, although I've had a few foreigners try in Abaco, Exuma, but in their case the realtors/lawyers have mis-informed them, probably to clinch the sale. I had one tell me he owned the whole bay as far as the eye could see!! He and the others stood corrected. The real issue here is the ratio of blocked out beach front vs. still publicly accessible, added to the "vendor culture" and divine rights/entitlement. Yet another example of continuous Government failure.
By Appointment only, at the GBPA offices, probably under supervision. No copies, no true public gazette. But, the Government doesn't gazette properly anymore anyway. A farce.
Exactly what they do not want to give up: The white wigs and the queens Honors. Not that but a hand full truly qualify to receive those honors but after all, It is something left to the GG and or P.M. to recommend and we know where their loyalties lie. Amazing how blind they are to being the cause of the demise of the Bahamas but also how Blind we the citizens are to keep electing these buffoons and thieves. This is a disgrace but only for one with shame, and our leaders are shameless. Not enough sense to be ashamed!
First comment is a prime example of "Bahamians tearing down Bahamians". While he may be a descendant of a well known liquor family, and may well be wealthy in his own right, It has nothing to do with his current enterprise save inherent knowledge of the business gained by exposure. Unlike most wealthy Bahamians he has re-invested in his country, and appears successful in spite of the headwinds he no doubt faced from his own Government, civil services, etc etc. Julian is but a prime example of a "politically neutral bureaucrat. clerical at best, a tool at worst.
