With few foreigners to scam,
Only Bahamians left!
Crazy scheme......

Why should the political be immune from political persecution?
the average citizen is not.
the rank and file of both party's faithful have many examples of political discards to refer to.
H.A.I. created the "under the bus" syndrome.
It is not enough to intimidate the public,
one must control all the megalomaniacs standing in the wings.
Their own methods be upon them.

You really think Govt is 70% efficient?
I'd bet they're at 30% on collections, and less than 30% on function!

The_Oracle says...

VAT, if at 7.5% across the board, need not be shown in the price of goods, which incorporates Cost, freight, duty, markup and profit.
Sales tax or VAT is not shown item by item elsewhere in the world, but is shown on a receipt.
Duty is considered a cost, therefore is marked up and incorporated into the price.
VAT should be shown on the receipt however, so everyone sees the Governments take via VAT.
The Governments take otherwise is hidden, and should not be, as it is significant.

Hubert started this ball rolling, the PLP as usual take years to realize they have possession!
The IMF umpire is watching as are the rating agencies.

The_Oracle says...

Actually, making pricing VAT inclusive will shield the Government to some degree from the public wrath at inflation and price increases, effectively hiding it, just like the duty.
The public assumption will be that the stores are hiking prices.
They are cowardly in not admitting this is all due to their mismanagement,
and cowardly in raising taxes 7.5 % so they can "carry on" as usual.
You'd have to be an idiot to start any new business in the Bahamas until the dust settles, maybe optimistically around 2017!

On New V.A.T. rate to be 7.5%

You will sing a different tune if elected, once the omnipotent feeling, the urge to "thumb up or down" mere mortals supplants and corrupts whatever altruistic thought one might have started with.
All the while increasingly surrounded by impotence and corruption, the majority stroking your ego while scamming in your name.
For Christie, it is the thrill of sirens, the parting of traffic, the cloudy illusion of leadership.
For Ingraham, it was the throwing of people under the political bus, rival, friend, stranger, no matter.
We shall see Mr. Minnis, we shall see.

Sol, Cable Bahamas, Argentinian road works, BTC, come on now.
between the frying pan and the fire,
are the Bahamian people!

The_Oracle says...

We have arrived at the point that no amount of Bad press, embarrassment, or impropriety or unlawful behavior has any effect on the elected or the appointed.
The rule of law is now blatantly disregarded and abandoned, leaving the Bahamian people defenseless against each other and most importantly their Government.
Our Children and their children to 5 generations will pay for our arrogance, stupidity and blind allegiance to those who pocket their future in cold hard stolen cash.
In the case of Bimini, there will be no conch and fish to fall back on when all this collapses, as has happened time and time again through history.
The disgrace of all of this is owned by the Bahamian people for trusting the Yellow or Red,
by blindly rallying on tap every 5 years.
The loss here is to the ecology of the world, and even the eastern seaboard of the U.S. will feel the effects of this despoiling.
Not the first destruction of that which no man can create,
nor will it be the last.

The Problem is the clean up never gets done sheeprunner12,
From the Pirates of the Caribbean East end G.B. mess to oil exploration derricks northern banks,
Like Bahamians throwing KFC boxes out the window,
on an industrial scale.
