"However, Ms Rolle – who has maintained that there was no contract between the two parties – yesterday pointed to rules in the school’s handbook, which state 12th grade students are entitled receive a diploma, not a ceremony".

Is not the Graduation earned via years of attendance and school fees?
Did the Student not Pay money specifically for the Prom event?

Seems to me a refund is in order IF the school has the discretion to "Exclude students" from activities, in this case all of them.

And we wonder why our youth have no respect for Authority, when Authority can act so arbitrarily and give no recourse.
Wake up Kids, real life is no different here.
It is the Governmental modus operandi also.

As for no contract, well, moneys were paid, if it were a Ball raffle or Concert, and the perfomance/drawing or event was cancelled, refunds are in order!
Or the event rescheduled honoring the Sold tickets!

Interesting that he says that he Backed the PLP because Bacon backed the FNM....
Think an affidavit can be found that shows how much Bacon gave Hubert?
So, both parties are for sale?
Can't we get them listed on BISX?
Then we can all call favor, we could buy shares in Politicians !

Seems the unwritten political courtesy and rules are now being broken.
Swipe and joust for the sake of the show,
but don't go too deep towards the truth,
We could lose the pup...peoples support.........

Banker, they're satisfied to cut Steaks off of long dead horses!
The Bahamas attracts bottom feeders, who can be scammed and messed with and who will leave disgusted but relatively quietly.
Nepotistic appointments to the Port exec doesn't help either.
Old school is right, along side Hutchinson Mid level managers.

The Bahamas Market is insignificant with respect of Copyright Licensing,
COntrolled by the Screen Writers Guild of America,
Dish, Direct and cable companies Buy Copyright of content from them.
While Showtime for instance, used to Buy Int'l copyright for the movies they show, HBO did not.
While this may have changed, it still illuminates the fact that we are behind the times and still pirates!!
Hell yes, Cable Bahamas is still bootlegging some Content,
just as the DVD burners outside of shop fronts do.

A very sensible "outside" perspective from Mr. Millard.
Unfortunately, Nassau has always had a rather disdainful fear/opinion on Freeport,
both political and Private sectors alike.
Freeport could easily "overshadow" Nassau, which is exactly what is feared, and is equated to a loss of Control and a threat to Political and Mercantile power.
Notwithstanding the fact that Nassau, and every out island would benefit,
It is that mindset that has to perish, hopefully not taking the country with it!
Yet again, The government has backed into the Requirements of WTO, IMF and super-WTO trade agreements and implemented new tax regimes that, yet again, have hit Freeport with instances of double taxation, wrongful taxation, and as always, massive confusion through lack of Information both within Government and the private sector.
The Port is Clueless as usual, and couldn't care less.
From top to bottom we have "Maintenance Management" geared towards a holding pattern.
From the H. Whampoa and Individual shareholder perspective, I'm sure all is fine.
Pillaging as usual.
Initiative, whether spelled out in grandiose form or just emerging through human effort, it comes from People, individuals who can dream.
We have lost or destroyed most of those, and certainly have had none in the port Authority since Wallace Groves was run out.

So Jack stayed when all the other "honest" Civil servants rolled out or were rolled out in the 70's?
More Like Jack figured out how to keep his head down......
The Permanent Secretaries SHOULD be the ones to follow the rules and make sure the Elected do also.
Not working out well is it?

Great, Govt don't want a noose around it's neck,
so they put it around the private sector neck!
Marvelous logic!
I wonder if he has any clue how many people have withdrawn their Capabilities and competencies from Society expressly due to Government strangulation?

I think every private sector business that interacts with the public should get together and establish a "Civil service behavior day" and encourage their employees to say NO, deny service, ignore customers Suck teeth, act stupid and all the other typical surly, entitlement traits encountered daily when dealing with these "Public servants"

I wish the IMF would cut them off. and every other Government we are indebted to.
I wish I could run my affairs the way they do,
but I'd suffer nightmares.

The Port Authorities days are numbered,
as they have failed to do anything but alienate the licensees and cut back door deals with successive governments beneficial to themselves alone.
They have undermined themselves.
They have stripped the assets and sold them off.
They have abrogated the H.C.A.
Maybe the licensees will wake up this time,
It may be the last chance they get.

The Court system is dysfunctional, and every citizen knows it.
No Justice there, no recourse for ordinary people.
So, like the youth, they're taking things into their own hands.
Vigilantism isn't just lynching (shooting, stabbing)
It is the beginning of the end.

Uh, Bahamianpride,
Ingraham created that back in 2010, he created a "Tax unit" in the ministry of finance.
Look for legislation shortly to "empower it"
if it doesn't already exist, as Laing/Winder created a virtual blackout on information.
Can't have the public knowing what you're up to !
