I do not disagree with Tal with respect of Political donations and bribes etc.
However, we better build a hell of a prison to accommodate all who should be locked up for these infractions!
(many of which are already illegal!)
This is probably what the Chinese should have built for us instead of a stadium......

Cash and barter, huge VAT avoidance practices globally.
and to define VAT, it is a sales tax on Goods AND services!
Tax on all Auto repairs, Electricans, plumbers, Gym fees, Dental, you name it.
They have their hands around the chickens throat folks, and are starting to squeeze!

Would be nice if we would adhere to the existing Constitution, which we do not.
Why bother to change what isn't followed?
The political elite and their ardent supporters do what they will anyway.
The 80% don't stand a chance.
Dangerous times in Paradise ahead folks.

This is only the beginning, as anything Government does is for self preservation and not to make things better for Bahamians.
The people will bear the brunt of their folly.

Notwithstanding BEC ineptitude and attitude,
organizers no doubt "assumed" they could plug everything and anything in.
By the way, the significant amount of power used by all the "Vendors" is paid for by whom?
The taxpayer of course! (those who do pay taxes)

But Mr. Winder, why speak now?
Why did you not inform the Bahamian business Community and public at large when YOU and Mr. Laing were negotiating and signing us onto this?
Tis the Government that has been farming mushrooms.
Yes, this process has been going on for better than 20 years, With the Bahamas alternating between proactive and backing into it!
Who exactly have you been consulting with?
Who have you been informing?

Unfortunately, the Government is taking the cowardly way out, as some of these landlord/tenant situations are fraught with Permissions to build, equity tied into and even fraudulent lease to own scenarios.
From the perspective of occupancy and health they are right,
but the deviousness of the Bahamian slumlords is going to blow up in their faces.
Hence the courts are in for a load, from those who are legit.
The illegitimate get screwed again.

Yes, "Banker" Bahamians have been creating purchasing entities in the U.S. for years,
usually for re-invoicing purposes, to reduce the value of freight for Duty avoidance.
There are legitimate reasons for setting up a purchasing entity, but the perception will always be Duty avoidance.
Bahamas Customs tried years ago to create an "Item cost" database, at Nassau Airport, but with Model numbers on Televisions and consumer electronics changing 3 times a year,
they quickly filled a hard drive with useless data.
Some Bahamians are also bypassing the Central bank by using Vonage to run U.S. CC machines, doing direct deposit to U.S. accounts.
Also, what is this up-charge I've seen on CC charges? Is this not against the merchant agreement signed with the Major CC companies?
How are Companies getting away with this stuff?

Still pirates at heart, just in suits these days......
