But to get to the end objective, you need ike for like tax structures, and then tax agreements with these jurisdictions. There is a lot of pain (for local companies) or profits (for the multinationals) between here and there. Inept is still the order of the day, new day and all.
Recast.......Aka throw the line out to see if they can catch a fish (no doubt a loan, tax increase, or other move to pillage money from somewhere) Want to save 100% of your construction budget? Stop accepting cost overruns and Contracts at $500/sq ft for an outhouse!
Spanish philosopher George Santayana is credited with the aphorism, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” Like it or not, Columbus was a part of the history of these islands. If history was still taught in proper perspective, perhaps we would understand the significance of the statue, insofar as it reminds us of " from whence we came" for good or bad. How livable is a livable wage if it kills the sector that provides the wages? Government churns money it pillages from the private sector. SImply regurgitating the catch phrases of the wealthier western nations, themselves foundering, is not good enough.
Strange no one has mentioned the independence of the Judiciary. Theirs or ours. Granted this is before the election but still, he was leader of the opposition? Methinks it may backfire in anycase.
Brave has to appoint his "fixers" after all, how else will anyone get a meeting with him? Can't pay the man directly! Senators can come later! Same old PLP, like we expected anything different.
5 year cycle, reinvent the wheel every damn time. Zero Learning curve retained for the cost. Social services was and is a joke, good for some, useless for others.
The 5 year cycle of political appointees being based on party loyalty and not capability gets us stuck in this constant re-invention of the wheel. Is the DRA finished? No mention. Have those political appointees been fired? What of funds recently donated and earmarked for specific jobs? What of funds owed to vendors? Will this need be abandoned or passed on to some appointee that knows nothing? Just one example of our lack of continuity. Will the dome homes be finished, or are they abandoned? At what cost? Perhaps Mr. Mitchell does not see the obvious systemic problem in his perspective and statement.
