So let's get this straight, They had a contract which the Government didn't honor, by not paying for the service provided. So they sign another contract? Did they get paid? Does the Government need a payment plan like that offered pre election by BEC/BPL?
The Port Area investment act was an ill thought out disastrous piece of legislation which exempted the Port Authority and Hutchinson from any of the expired taxes while nailing the licensees with the choice of getting taxed or forcing re-investment additional hiring, etc in order to continue to enjoy those exemptions. Unto itself an illegal act contrary to the H.C.A. It was structured to allow gerrymandering of the Business environment and economy. So much for holding the Port Authority accountable. Insofar as a small business zone within the Bonded area, perhaps Mr. cooper is unaware that there is one, which has stood empty for at least 10 years. I believe it was used for a drive in Rally last week? It just goes so show how clueless they all are and that they, both political parties are complicit in the failure of Grand Bahama.
The systems are broken, the Political parties (and occupants thereof) we suffer with are simply a consequence of the systemic failure. Government gives no credit, but will stretch private sector vendors out beyond 180 days if allowed. Government does not follow its own rules. And we still sit here believing somehow the PLP or FNM can or will behave any differently next time around.
Was not Ingraham a PLP first? Simple petty personality driven politics. And we buy into it lock stock and barrel, remaining poor and held down while they serve self first and foremost. All of them.
More than likely those two investors are completely unaware that certain concessions expired and while still being "honored" as it were, could cease at any time on the whim of Government.
Could the newly elected Government please not follow the typical Government path by jumping into bed with the Port Authority at the expense of the second city? It would be nice to have a government act like a government for once instead of a cheap mistress too eager to please. Implementing real property taxes and business license fees will be economically fatal.
A water softener does nothing to eliminate salt content. It can mitigate but not eliminate water hardness (limestone, mineral content) R.O. is expensive, and wastes up to 70% of the incoming water as a salty brine. Imagine paying the GBUC for 4 times as much volume just to get salt free water? Realize this is an privately owned essential infrastructure company owned by what is in effect the privately owned local municipal government, completely failing at their responsibility. Yes, and act of God destroyed the freshwater well fields but their responsibility remains to provide potable water for consumption.
Pure Political mischief. They sure do come out of the wood work to armchair quarter back. Every Government in the world made missteps, mistakes in policy and logistics. Shortages of swabs, test kits and vaccines were global! But I'm sure that you've profited quite nicely with your investment in testing equipment. Where exactly was this administration supposed to Get the "funding" from anyway? How many DR's presiding over the P.M.H. and Rand Hospital have we had now?
Manifesto has come to mean empty promises or things to fail at, or run from, so the PLP seizes upon another word, Blueprint, which will come to mean the same thing. Insanity that we keep electing the same old repeatedly, and with such passion and infinite Blindness.
