That Mr Smith and Mr McDonald are directors is reason enough for the existence of Transparency legislation. Political influence peddling. Old Boys Club. Public watchdog organizations are needed insofar as Politicians are corrupt and corruptible now more than ever.
Government and unions have weakened the Chains that bind the economy over the last 40 years. Allowing the lockdowns to finish it off. The day the voting Majority figure out the Government and those we elect are the problem will be the day things may start to turn around.
First, regulate the insurance industry properly. Self regulation with mandatory policies equals a state sactioned/mandated rip off. Second, Government brought this on themselves by putting both its feet into rebuilding the private sector, housing and businesses. A total fail thus far as is expected. Government has completely set itself up for fiscal failure, and set the private sector to fail ahead of them. Harsh? maybe, but that doesn't negate the point that Government has created a society in which "a leg up" is damn near impossible, and marginalizing an ever higher % of the population. No matter the level of taxation, only a small part will ever get back to the people who are taxed.
long Past due. However the HCA still has more potential for the entire Bahamas than Wallace groves even foresaw. Now if we could just find a Government that could operate it properly....... Pindling, Ingraham, Christie and his minions of self preservation, and the Port Families have all buggered it up beyond recognition.
Tax the people out of existence or tax the companies out of existence, oh my, what a difficult position. The people suffer either way. Transparency in Government operations and relaxation of the ever present "control" freak mentality of Government. The rule of law provides for processes to achieve permits/licenses/approvals, eliminate the Ministerial "discretion" that is always exercised as a denial unless shingles are involved.
And still the question, why is the Government doing the G.B. Port Authorities job? And I will believe any of it once I see it actually happen. We are heading for silly season (Elections) and we know that means stop Review, Cancel! Perhaps if PLP and FNM politicians would agree to sharing their Shingles, we could see something transpire beyond the 5 year cycle of endlessly switching negotiations.
You cannot get blood from a stone, and your cornered cat died months ago. Get over it and start presenting economic improvement ideas to the Government. If you have any.
Not that BTVI has been a well funded or well run institution but becoming unionized will finish it. 40-50 years later we come back around to having the idea a trade school is a good thing.....
While reported that we have "tamed" the virus, we are still at Level 4 of the U.S. ranking. (highest) Also, the U.S. has only imposed the same criteria on us that we imposed on them. Not saying it is a tit for tat but it seems we want better treatment than we impose. As to trusting experts, I think a trust but verify policy is prudent, with time providing the verification. Is vaccination side effect information being suppressed? We know that political view points are. We know Politicians/Governments cannot be trusted, and they are driving the vaccination bus.
Trump declared he would "drain the swamp" The swamp showed its true size and reach, and drained him. No different than the Bahamian swamp, aside its size.
