Am I right in saying, and as read online, that while we have test kits, we are short of the yard long swabs they shove up your nose ?
Test kits are useless without those.

First Committee recommendation: stop appointing committees.
Second: Start listening to people who have some knowledge of Business.
To be fair to the above appointed and anointed individuals,
Set yourself apart from all the other forgotten committees and the multitudes of forgotten reports.

Reminds me of the story on the method for validating (and fudging) Cancer treatment cure rates,
a few test subjects die, so they're removed from the results, with the note "the patient failed the treatment" (documented, can cite source)
This tunnel vision that is becoming evident from the Medical side of this is driving this bus over the cliff in all other respects.

Pushing it to claim lockdowns have this contained.
I'd say people realize the lack of Medical facilities and testing in G.B. makes it prudent to behave and follow social distancing rules. Seems Nassau has an issue with following instructions.
Aside the Government created chaos at the food stores with the on again/off again surprise lockdowns vs. Curfews it hasn't been too bad, aside the economic suicide.
Kinda glad they stopped writing amendments to the amendments of amended orders, even though they make all of this lawful. Supposedly.
This situation needs a widening of viewpoint. Tunnel vision is showing.

There are a few who advocate the "US dollarization" of the Bahamas. A number of other countries have done it.
We are sitting on $2bn US in our reserves as it is, Stop and think: what would the U.S. gain in such a move?
Think again before you say nothing.......

The_Oracle says...

With respect of determining when the Virus may "peak" in the Bahamas, they are probably overlooking the fact that with such relatively small numbers, a few extra cases can push that around very easily. Following trends goes out the window with smaller groups.
Second, Seems the hospital needs a lock down more so than the country.
Nassau is still the hot spot, Out islands have gone quiet. Perhaps time to consider opening safe islands to internal function, with social distancing.
A pure medical approach is a double edged sword.

While their intent is fine and necessary, their path is strewn with unintended consequences.
Perhaps they're are so buried in the patients ailment they have failed to notice the hospital is on fire?
Neither minister of Health or P.M. would be the first Dr to slap a patient for having the temerity to die.
They had better start listening to Logistics and economics people.
A harsh reality to be sure but
Dr's do perform amputations do they not?
To save the whole body?

The P.M. aught to apologize for his own words/actions.
Would be the Honorable thing to do......
Apologizing does not conceded failure, quite the opposite:
It shows a lapse of judgment recognized and atoned for.

The_Oracle says...

His Temper tantrum had no place in a national address, period.
He demeaned himself, and the Office he holds.
An apology would be acceptable, ad not to those he was addressing, whomever they may be, but to the Bahamian people.
That would be a measure expected from a decent Man.
