They could show more care for Bahamians, but showing care for Haitian nationals is what they should do. Most people, "most", are familiar with the good samaritan and think of him as a great person to have helped the traveler in need when noone else did.

The irony of that story is the Samaritan is someone everyone would have spit on because he was "*Samaritan*" and the lowest of the low class by society, the traveler in need was the same status as the people who passed by without helping, some most likely knew him personally. The Samaritan ironically was what we expect *human* to be.

Haitians Chinese Russians Czechs shouldnt come here illegally, if they do they should be subject to what the law prescribes but not mistreatment, they're all people just like our mothers and fathers, sons and daughters

Well they could send us the LBGTQ ambassador Jamaica rejected. We honestly would have no reason to reject the ambassador as so many in the David administration are also LBGTQ.

As a general principle I do think its wrong for the US to force their culture on another country/culture. Its no different than what Columbus did to the new world and the Americans did to the Native Indians

On Years go by and still no ambassador

Given the choice of the people, I thought Brave Davis had great potential, probably still has it, but its become apparent to me that he has no interest in leading.

He would make a great ceremonial diplomat. He loves giving speeches and he's good at it. It's a wonderful story for school children because it appears that he overcame a speech impediment to be able to do so.

Just think that for a year on attaining office he ignored what a visionary or leader should have known was our greatest threat. Energy. Its led to a 71% increase in electrical costs for businesses. We haven't seen the real fallout of this yet. They havent as yet adjusted their prices for the increased cost. And Brave Davis left all of this in the hands of the Financial Secretary.

He's certainly better than Minnis, but in the end neither appears ready to do the work of leading.

The root of this problem is corruption.

This uprising of the poor has been witnessed throughout history when starving poor people reach the point where they see no other option, prices are increasing, the rich are getting richer and the ruling class is totally out of touch with the suffering of poor, partying while people starve. It has never been pretty, and the walls and security have never held up against the mass of zombies

Just think what happened here when people saw an unvaccinated person as a threat. Doctors openly stated that theyd let them die rather than treat them and families threatened their unvaccinated relatives. People lose their humanity very quickly when they believe their survival is threatened.

The urgent need is to stop the violence and feed the starving. But someone also needs to think longterm, because if in that process of aid corruption continues fuel is getting stored for the next fire.

Haiti needs transparent corruption free govt and aid. I'm not sure it's even possible. Leadership in these tropical nations appears to be a magnet for get rich by any means necessary flamboyant scammers. You only need about 10 to be involved, the rest just have to maintain silence for job security while the deals go through. Was the murder of the former PM and links to Haitian leadership ever resolved?

If Haiti sounds like future Bahamas it's because all the seeds are here.

I read the headline and thought, thank goodness they've stopped talking about the "*first Bahamian astronaut*"... unfortunately, the tricky word is in the article.

According to NASA's part of the criteria for that designation is : "**Aspiring astronauts must have a master's degree in addition to at least two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, they may complete at least 1,000 hours of PILOT-in-command time on a JET aircraft.**

At present **she will be the first Bahamian commercial passenger to space**. That either means she has enough money to pay for the privilege or some sponsor willing to pay for her. **Despite the hype of this trip, (i.e. William Shatner and Jeff Bezos went too) she is very accomplished and has several outstanding achievements over her career that surpass this.**

Two months ago it was reported locally that her company "won" a 9m contract with the govt. Actually reading the govt release, her company was one of 5 others chosen to BID on 9m dollars of contracts. Meaning, her company could win all 9.5m or it could win 0. The relevant words and sentences to comprehend are all in a google search

Let's use terms correctly. If she gains her pilot's license in future, she could indeed become the *first Bahamian astronaut*

The best advice I have for the govt is to build a grand junkanoo museum. Rescue our tings

I honestly dont get the "*return after 10 years*". It's the same as every other event, homecoming, regatta, etc etc it's the same food, same entertainment, same setup... the difference might be the streamers.
