"*They even suggested that such onerous working conditions could cause “trouble” among the Chinese workforce*"

I feel that some humanitarian organization needs to have regular checks on the living conditions of the chinese and the Turkish workers. They're brought here for one specific purpose, they have skills and theyre cheap, but under no circumstance should they live in conditions that amount to slave labour. The employer should ensure that their conditions are clean, sanitary, not infested with insects and food adequate. the same principle applies to Haitian labour brought in for large projects.

"*There is no need to blame whichever company any more now, as the entire situation and honour are at stake. There is no way but to fight."*

One of the things you have to admire about Asian business culture is their concept of honour, it trumps everything. "Failure", is never an option. This is admirable and generally a very good thing. "Generally" because they do in instances still end up with eye opening scandals

I think what theyre complaining about **is** a malfunctioning apprenticeship program, i.e., working along with a master craftsman who is being paid to complete work on the project.

The difference in what Ive suggested is the master craftsman is being paid to "train", not complete work. The trainees at the end or some other interval have to demonstrate theyve acquired the skills for the master craftsman to be fully paid

I think theyre talking about the people at the top of the skills list as opposed to high schoolers who are learning entry to mid level skills

I dont think it's just the PLP.

Remember the statement made when we found out carnival was paying the ruling party to facilitate their operation? in other countries this "exchange" between a govt and a potential investor would be called a dirty word. In the Bananas it was described as "*when they in is their turn and when we in is our turn*". Then we want people to believe we not corrupt.

The carnival saga was brushed aside as just an argument over some kiddie rides but I believe it goes to the heart of why nothing ever gets fixed. Each party, and some individuals, are too busy with making money off of investors. The cruise gat more expendable dollars than Toby. Look at the email exchange between Leslie Bethel and Liu asking for payment for and Im assuming what could be something as simple as a phone call to the PM or Sir Baltron. Who knows, this may be why Fitzgerald thought it was ok to ask Izmirilian for a *mere* 20,000 dollars for "nothing". Ive always said when new people get elected to parliament they must learn all the secrets then hurriedly shout, *quick, shut the door before everybody see*. Again with carnival it was said, "*yall didnt know? This was going on for years, its an understanding*". No, we didnt know, you hid it, cause you knew no right thinking Bahamian would think it was ok

"*Workers in the program must have exhibited mastery of a minimum set of skills for each target skill they're enlisted for*"

Meaning dont waste the Master's time, the candidates must be highly skilled at specific tasks to be eligible to learn the master skill

Also if you're the Bahamian contractor on the project, your obligation as part of your final payment is to submit to the govt the highly technical skills completed and the name of the Bahamain who completed the work. The workers should have access to this report to ensure they're not excluded if they did work. And **again** the eligible skills for this reporting are selected beforehand you dont need to report someone who put up a door unless it's a **verry** unique door requiring extraordinary skill. This info could be put in something as simple as an Excel spreadsheet. And again no faking data, it will hurt you in the end bolstering the foreign contractors argument for their people

So it's highly unlikely that someone will work themselves out of a job. Possible but not highly probable.

These guys want to stay in the Bahamas, who can blame them? Beaucoup dollars in paradise and treated like a king wherever you go? I know someone who rode it out for 20 years *strategically* **not** transfering skills. So after 50 years, what are you gonna do, continue the same non working approach?

Instead of complaining about the man who looking after his interests, why not hire a man whose only job on the project IS to transfer skills? Pick 3 master crafts and 5 people to learn each. Just guessing numbers, you know the industry, you fix it.

He shadows the master craftsman, he has a list of skills to transfer and his compensation is based on whether workers can demonstrate that they have learned the skill. And you have to work out what that realistically means **beforehand**. Workers in the program must have exhibited mastery of a minimum set of skills for each target skill they're enlisted for. He **cannot** get an extended work permit or residency after the project. And no funny business inflating numbers and costs, you'll be shooting yourself in the foot and scuttling the objective.

Yes it will be more costly initially, but in the end you actually have skills transferred as opposed to this "other".

**As to "what was wrong" (...yes, reading comprehension is an issue). Alledged collusion between the govt, CCA and Export Import Bank to the disadvantage of Izmirilian IS the foundation of the lawsuit. Its appears that Bethel was the conduit i.e. the go between

ThisIsOurs says...

lol.

Did you fail reading comprehension? Literally the entire story was about the actual communications from a CCA senior executive detailing his attempts to "work with" the "govt", (in Bahamian parlance that means the PM Mr Christie), by approaching and paying Leslie Bethel as an intermediary, Bethel who just happened to be the son of Sir Baltron Bethel, senior advisor to Perry Christie. Christie is in the story because that's the story, there's no "somehow". Weirdly enough it appears Izmirilian also approached Bethel for the same reason. How all these people is know who has access to the sitting PM? Carnival had someone working for them too. Nygard had Shane.
