Our children will not do better until – parents/guardians get fully involved at home first – the student self is motivated and the teacher is truly teaching each student. Until each of the three entities moves away from falsehood – we will only see the change getting worse! Our children will not do better until all responsible do better!

It seems from the scientific pundits that escalation of hurricanes will be the new normal. In lieu continuing the same path of building rectangular homes – instead we ought to build geodesic dome dwellings. They are the best protection from hurricanes – there are no better structures against hurricanes than domes - they also have other costs benefits for cooling and heating. The Bahamas is in the hurricane belt and we cannot change the courses of hurricanes – nor can we move the Bahamas out of harms’ way. What we can do is change the way we build our homes! Further ‘ our planners and authorities need to realize this and start the ball rolling to educate ‘ fund ‘ encourage and institute in the minds of Bahamians the change for building homes. Every household need to be almost individually independent of the grid; by having our own dome ‘ solar/wind/tidal power and water access – either a cistern (water tank) and or ground water or reverse osmosis. Our country is spread out with many islands and Cays. By having those platforms /disciplines (curriculum in schools ‘ research ‘ industry development ‘ bank/government financing ‘ legislation etc.) our people can survive a flourish. But it can only be achieved when our authorities (politicians etc.) comprehend the sense of it - and enact proper directives to accomplish it for the people. It will take time determination ‘ hard work ‘ financing – but most of all a mindset to change the way we live in these many islands and Cays.

The Chinese wants - what the US wants ‘ what the British wants ‘ what any expansionistic nation wants. We are still being controlled by nations with the power – Spanish ‘ British ‘ US for 500 years - and now encroaching is China. What we need to do is – be smart enough to keep them all at bay. The Chinese has more of the US red ink than anyone. Yet ‘ we buy US goods made in China. Still Bahamians ‘ Americans and others complains about the Chinese. Good bad or otherwise – we need to manage our affairs with all those powerful nations in a much better way! Otherwise – yes! We are dead meat – get smart and take care of your national affairs Bahamas ‘ otherwise we perish.

The blame game is everywhere about the dumbing down of our children. The blame is three fold ‘ one – upbringing ‘ parents and guardian lack of interest first - in molding the child with the importance of education. Two – the youth ability to respond to proper upbringing. Three – the teacher sincerity in teaching the student. We generally have lost our way for instilling the proper model for education. We allow too much useless knowledge. Cell phones, TV, bad example – the list goes on. Our children will not do better until we do better!

Legislation ought to be made up to – make all of Grand Bahama a Freeport Island – similar to the Hong Kong model.

The PM promised accountability! Whoever is found to have stole - MPs’ civil servants or others ‘ must be tried in the courts like any other criminal! If this does not happen – the PM will be just like the criminals that must be brought to justice in a court of law!
