SGI! Folks go and do some research on floating power plant before you rush to accept such things. What is wrong with Bahamians once you have on a coat suit you can tell them hell is good for them and they would go stepping up in gasoline drawers. We need to focus on energy conservation and alternative forms of energy to supplement our grid. Bahamians always trying to reinvent the wheel. We in a worldwide energy crisis this is not unique to the Bahamas.
This suppose to the celebration of the death and resurrection of our Lord. But this so called Christian nation want show off their new stadium. This is sacrilegious do you think Israel would hold such an event during Passover.
Speaking of the PLP an interesting thing happened today. I went to a jobsite where my stepfather who works for BEC was doing an apparent disconnection ,to give him something.. Shockingly the Chairman of the Corporation pulled up and began ranting and raving. I sat in my car and it appeared that he was carrying bad and telling them to turn this consumers light back on! I could not believe what I was seeing! The person who I assumed was the supervisor was trying to be as calm as possible but the Chairman took of his coat and began acting in a threatening manner. Wowwww this is totally unbecoming and I began to wonder if the Chairman was losing his head or if he was that drunk with power! This present government is only its first year and seems to be a failure. I have never witness anything like this from a public official. These guys are frauds and want to take this country to the level of political victimisation and intimidation pre 1992. Warning to them this is the age of information these things could be post on a social media outlet in a minute. I was dismayed and my faith in my elected officials went to an all time low. How do expect the young folks to act if a senior government official acting in the street like a rabid dog. Astonishing and only in the Bahamas.
This becoming to common in our society. People losing hope. Their is something fundamentally wrong here and we need to seriously address it.Many of us have been through some trying times and I can guarantee quite a number of us have thought about the same route. The difference being somewhere along the line a glimmer of hope shone it's way through and we realize "this too shall pass". My deepest condolences to the family because for those left behind often the question is "what could I have done different?" We need to be more open about mental health in this country and I agree with TalRussell we need to use every media and social outlet to highlight this troubling and vexing problem and try to render some hope to the hopeless. I too pray that the family find some solace.
BahaMar do it because they could do it. What people fail to realize is whatever the government is willing to do in the public sector is carte blanche for the private sector. You want to downsize the public sector well the private sector have all rights to do the same . As most Public Corporation contract says, a Corporation has a right to manage ,so let BahaMar manage. I really can't understand what they talking to the PM for their protest should have been on the Cable Beach strip disrupt the lil bit of service they do have.
A tief is a tief whether he/she from the Eastern Rd. or East St. Bahamians are a bunch of hypocrites. When the Chairman of BEC went into the House of Parliament and suggested that BEC workers were thieves there wasn't an outcry. Now that a white Bahamian has been caught stealing from BEC ,and the court does what is suppose to do to thieves, everyone up in arms "it is too harsh". The magistrate operated from what was on the books. He was found guilty,it should have been harsh a sentence because unlike most Bahamians nowadays he probably could have afford to pay the light bill but chose not to.He was constantly in the papers telling government what they should and should not do and like so many Bahamians they want improvements but don't want to pay for it. Now they need to go those Haitian villages and start some prosecutions on stealing electricity. Haul some MPs and Chairmen before the courts for not paying their excessively high electircity bills. Ohh I forgot the government has appointed one of those "rats" to watch the cheese.
While Bahamians still losing their homes after paying back 20yrs on a 30yr mortgage, This government spending like mad. They worrying about where High Commissioners and Haitians will live. They want to build PM residence for "entertainment purposes" (sound like a brothel to me) while thousands of Bahamians still worrying about where they going to live. I forget this the gold rush so spend baby spend. Spend until we don't have two piece of coopers to rub together in the treasury.
