sheeprunner12 how did you come up with that figure. First off the cruise passengers are each paying for a excursion cost 80 - 200 dollars each person. Then they tip the host and the driver. Then they eat and drink. At least half of the guests. Then they shop and spend their money on souvenirs. I don't know my last bag was 160.00. Even at 70.00 for t-shirts. That adds up fast. A couple are going to spend a minimum of 300.00 per port. A family of 4, a minimum of 550.00 per port. I don't know in your budget how that ranks but in mine its a lot, but we save and treat ourselves on vacation. Some Americans are rich, but most of us live pay check to pay check and save for our one nice vacation per year. Which we blessed to get that. I'm thankful for everything I have in life.
I'm American. I have NO desire to go to Cuba. Florida Beaches are great and I visit them often, but I would rather be in the Bahamas. The Island atmosphere and the Bahamian people have always been more than hospitable. I do hope that something is done to control the crime, when I read Bahamian people are afraid that worries me. You save for a vacation and your taking your family, your certainly not wanting to worry about your safety. I'm still visiting and have faith in it will improve.
I agree it's a beautiful island. I always loved it there. When I go back now, it's so quiet. I wish it would recover economically. I would go and never leave. I don't see any promotions for Grand Bahama's. You would think some of the tourists that visit on the cruise ships would come back to really spend time on the island. I'm thinking about going to Memories just to check it out. I always loved the Holiday Inn! Lisa
I don't know why our government doesn't clean up Chicago. It may be a sanctuary city like San Francisco. Gangs have taken over the city. They have gun control so only the criminals have guns. Which is a lot of the problem. Look at NY City it's the same way, and NY has gun control. I have a friend every time he goes to NY he gets mugged. Look at Atlanta we don't have gun control, and there is crime. It's in certain parts of town, and usually drug, gangs or domestically related. It usually isn't random.
You might occasionally see trees wrapped in the states but it's to stop wild life from climbing the tree. If I had of saw it that's what I would of thought. Not decoration.
