Many seem to have forgotten that our population was about one quarter of what it is now. Also, the cost of living was about one fifth of what it is today. Let's not forget the rising expectations of the people. A lot has changed since 1973.

Strange that there has been no mention of Arab slave traders working south along the east coast of Africa, the huge slave market of Zanzibar or of the institution of slavery in the Roman Empire when the slaves were mostly Germans and Greeks.

My dear Proud and Loud, I am curious as to how you can be so sure that anything that you don't subscribe to or consider even possible is only a theory. It would be wise to be just a little less dogmatic. It is doubtful that the truth behind this terrible situation is fully understood much less revealed.

Mention is made in this story of the Marsh Harbour AID store. However, there is no work being carried out on the ruins of that store at present. Perhaps the competition offered by the new Parts City store is a factor in this situation.

Convert some of those borrowed dollars to rubles and try the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. After all Sputnik means traveler and was the name given to their artificial satellite launched into earth orbit on October 4, 1957.

Like most of you, I long for a meaningful change. However, human nature being what it is, there are precious few individuals who will risk economic and possibly social repercussions by exposing themselves as independent candidates. In a society as small as ours it is far too common for a potential candidate to consider salary and advantages ahead of the common good. Hard to find another Cincinnatus who saved ancient Rome from invasion then returned to his farm much to the surprise of the senators who had granted him sweeping emergency powers. After all, they had anticipated that he would set himself up as a dictator.

Greed and selfishness have propelled us well on the way to becoming just another country in which the elite group sees no sense in working for the improvement of the country. They believe that if they don't take advantage of their situation in society, someone else will step into their place.

RT (Russia Today) and Al-Jazeera are reporting the glowing report of The Lancet medical journal relative to the Russian Sputnik V vaccine which is being used in South America and Eastern Europe. With the Ruble at about 75 for a US dollar, sounds like a good buy.

Wealthy people are experts at avoiding paying income tax. Our buffoons will try to call it a payroll tax so that the beneficial owners of the company can claim that they don't have to pay since they are not drawing a salary and are therefore not (technically) on the payroll. Might as well invite some Greeks and Italians into the country so that they can set up tax evasion schools. They are proven experts in the field and surely will find motivated students. The old way of doing things has come to an end. Welcome to the new reality for the country.

This renewed focus on the existence of specific shanty towns is a true indicator that a general election can be expected, perhaps as early as June of this year. Be prepared.
