Ragged Island was first settled to kill monk seals and melt them down to supply England with lamp oil. We have now killed every last monk seal and so the island has no practical or productive purpose to contribute to the Commonwealth. Please do not waste my hard earned tax money putting up buildings which will inevitably be destroyed by the stronger storms we will get due to global warming. If private enterprise wish to take on this loser project, on a macro or micro scale, then good luck to them, I hope they succeed but doubt they will.
Can anyone tell me what qualifications John Rolle has to be appointed governor of the central bank? Was he appointed by the corruption smeared Christie government or bty the new one we got now?
SP is quoting from the second most translated book in the world. The first is the Christian Bible and the second is the Tao Te Ching, which predates the Bible by two or three thousand years. If SP would care to study this book of ancient wisdom beyond the first few verses, then he would come to the verse which states "When the People lose Morality then they take up drums and march in the streets. This is the situation in our post PLP Bahamas, we have lost the guidance of The Way, we have lost guidance of Virtues, we have even lost Morality, and so we march in the streets. Expect nothing good to result from such actions when engineered by selfishly motivated people. Am I saying fred Mitchell is selfish? A failed but still aspiring politician, selfish? It has certainly been the case in times gone by.
Shame this. I support mass firing of fiscal parasitic civil servants. It is the only way that our Bahanaland can survive long term. Oh, and ca we cancel the pension paid to the previous prime minister, he does not deserve $250,000 per year for almost destroying the country.
The Hon. Jeffrey L. Lloyd has the benefit of a Long Island upbringing, in addition he has had years of teaching experience in the classroom. It is a huge challenge to correct the failed education system but no one is more competent and qualified for the job than the Hon. Jeffrey. Some of the important stuff he knows, he learnt from me, so he got to be good. smile.
On a personable level I do not particularly like John Rolle, as the saying goes "he is all mouth and no trousers.", A man who has never worked in he private sector but instead has had a bureaucratic career insulated from real life carried in the bosom of the state apparatus. He has absolutely no professional qualifications or prior career posts that make him suitable for his present position. Having said all that, I agree with his statement, that price controls do not work. The invisible hand of the market ensure that like a balloon, if you squeeze here then it will bulge there. High banking fees are due to the extra taxes that the corrupt Christie led government imposed on the retail banking sector, the cost of complying with KYC, the cost of collecting and paying VAT and NIB contributions, the excessively protectionist labour regulations, and lastly the propensity of many in our country to pay back loans or mortgages only very reluctantly.
Some people think that achieving a college degree automatically qualifies you to be a teacher. No, it does not. You need a specialized and specific set of skills to teach, just like becoming a lawyer, you get a degree first and then go to law school for 2 years, teaching, degree first then teaching certificate, which typically takes a year. And don't expect any big money either. There is a reason we have a teacher shortage, hiring a bunch of unpeople who feel entitled because they have a degree will not fix the problem. They sound like they feel entitled to be hired so I expect they would make not very good teachers. Teaching is a vocation, not something to do because you have wasted years and dollars getting a degree in a subject with no practical application in the jobs market,. Go sit at the back of the class and stop snivelling.
This letter tells truth.
