Freeport is a failure because of the St. George family et al. Even though Hutchison Whampoa paid into the port and ship facilities, they are stymied by the Hawksbill Treaty. The St. George's are the most unenlightened business people ever, with the business skills of an era at least 50 years old. They have the shopkeeper mentality, and are selling a 50 year old product thinking that it is still the sexy 25 year-old something. They don't understand that the concept of a tax haven is almost dead.

As for the shipping in Freeport, it is a colossal failure. It should be a major hub, a shipbuilding/ship repair facility and very close to the terminus of the Panama Canal. Instead it is a dying, marginalised facility due to mismanagement of the entire Freeport concept.

Freeport reminds me of the very picturesque gas station on East Street. It has everything going for it -- lots of space for cars on a very crowded road, just two pumps, a repair facility, a very retro look, and they just can't make a go of it. Freeport is the same way.

My guess is that the Chinese really don't want Freeport. Another empty city.

No, it's Bahamians seeing money-making opportunities with the stateless ones, at the expense of the country.

DUH! They could have saved their time and money with this study. It is only common sense that people with high income have more and nicer stuff, and are more visible targets for robbers, thieves and other moral deviants.

Get any more Jeeps repossessed lately? LOL !!!! I love going into a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

You would think Rory, that your intemperate, potty-mouth remarks would be bad for your CCTV Security business. After all who would give business to an irrational hothead with anger-management issues who finds posting anti-social partisan rants to be somehow fulfilling? Is name-calling all you have in your bag of social skills?

Bahamians never used to commit suicide. Something drastic has changed.

It's a parlour trick. The pencils move because while everyone is watching them, the perpetrator gently blows on the balanced pencils to move them. You can learn how to do it by watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHko8to…

Wow, another BISX wonder (sarcasm on). Just today I looked at shared for Drs. Hospital on BISX. In spite of declaring a loss the price hasn't moved, and there are a dozen unfilled sell orders, all for people wanting to ditch their shares at an average of $1.45 per share (ranging from a real dreamer at $1.55 to $1.35. Those 12 unfilled sell orders constitute 51,686 shares for an asking value of $75,729.70. They can't find buyers for those shares, and the ask price is still $1.45 per share? You gotta be nuts to invest in anything in BISX.

On a more orderly, efficient market, BISX shares would fall in price until they find a buyer. It shows you that BISX is fool's game, and not a serious exchange of any kind. And as for investment, the securities are junk-grade with no fiduciary oversight by the (hah!) regulators.

Bran is not a leader. He may be an agent of change, but he is not a leader. I rather like the idea of Minnis purging the Ingrahamites. He is facing resistance in his own party, and that is a sign that he is doing something right.
