So many business in this country just hanging on for life, not making profits just treading water and paying a few peoples salary. If things don't improve more will close and cause a domino effect that might take a whole slew of companies with it. The government and civil service people just do not get it.
Don't worry next week we can celebrate lndependence. D average schools with no books and toilet paper, unreliable power, water problems, no soap and toilet paper in the airports, children's ward in pmh begging the public for donations, and the list goes on but, take heart and celebrate owning a hotel in Grand Bahama and massive tax breaks and give aways for Disneys 2nd private cruise port. Oh and a couple hundred grand so the prisoners can build their own beds.
Until we start budgeting for maintenance when constructing a new building, bridge, or road etc. as part of the cost of new infrastructure we will always have this problem. Many many things the government does has no maintenance plan and we do not get the life out of the building etc. and when we do finally try to repair or fix it, the costs are much higher or it has to be completely replaced. Before you build something you should know how you are going to maintain it for the next 10-20 years. It is basic planning!
What about the employers and employees waiting excessive amounts of time for payment of legitimate claims from NIB? Can we prosecute NIB? People pay and pay get sick and hurt on the job and wait a year or more for sick pay. By that time you done starved to death, had your power cut off and been evicted or lost your home.
We bought these new ATRs because (under plp) they were supposed to be more fuel efficient and less maintenance. How is now their budget going up after 2-3 years? Something is amiss.
