subvention or grant to assist or its just plain part of da budget
Look at how many entities govt organizations have been getting the fancy word used by politiciams to grant money from going to otherwise critical, crucial governance that some new govt always promises to change to better the people who they want to vote for them.
Many entities get this support even those with private shareholders like bisx where govt is a 40% owner throuh the Central Bank, amd even Bank of the Bahamas. BoB, BISX,Bahamasair, Development Bank......etcetcetc.....year after year after year govt propping them up with taxpayers money and dey just sucking up the taxes off of the backs of the poor, suffering, 1 in 8 going to bed hungry, 40,000 below poverty line, citozems in soup lines, no beds at hospital, businesses stretched way past overdue overdrafts, owing suppliers........govt entities losing money amd still being propped up......after 5 year of one govt, after 5 years pf another, 10, 20 years and these employees hired, getting regular paychecks, medical benefits, pensions, vacationing, allowamces......and taxes always going to make sure they geys dey salaries every payday...aint fair to da pore, hungry, suffering, sick, dying....some cant even afford to get buried....somebody has to be responsible????
As a nunber of punishments and corrections have been cited there is one which needs clarifying ....'it could also also require that they also submit.to certain behavioural corrections'
Nurses using their vehicles for work and to obtain gas mileage.....and the autjorities stenching over ....$55,000. outstanding ....!!!!.......using your own vehicle for medical work......an aint gets paid.....WELL .....news flash!!!...first the vehicle insurance contract says private or public use .....next what happens of diring the use of the vehicle the nurse is in an accident..who pays...liable.....next what about the other costs if the wheel gets broken in a pothole.who pays???.....as the $55,000. Figure has been paid...is the govt complicit in participating in a questionable avt of the nurses using their privately insured vehicle for another purpose???.
Thanks hrysippus, see your point about the hours and that it appearsthat the industrial action was over the hours of the expats. The story cites 'issues' plural several times and knowing our people they just aint going to strike to benefit ferrigners unless the agenda had to do with items they too been trying to get resolved for 10 years which would obviously be money issues..... and given the govt tightness Dr Sands stating many of the issues dated...... 'given the fact that we have daid we will address the issues, many of which have been outstanding for 10 years.' The Bahamian nurses just used the ferreign hours issue to start the negotiations......remember fer 10 years nobody paid no mind. Later today this govt official official on radio started talking on zns news about monies owed will bo on their accounts if it wasnt already done by payday.
Of all the people doctors who should know what the end tesults would be if you do not examine, diagnose the illness and offer prompt treatment. This is a clear case of malpractice and heads must roll.
The nurses union must be sympathised with if these greviences have been going on for so long and being care providers must have endured their suffering until they could abdolutely take it no more. Nurses should not be pushed past their limit.
Heads must roll whosoever has caused all these nurses to collectively take this drastic action and pointless after the fact for everyone to realise how important nurses are to the well being to the pore an sic.
In all fairness the Hurricane relief by the PLP did inject money into the community by patronizing a number of Contractor supplies stores in the pore neighbourhoods, hired a number of small time contractors etc however it appears the then opposition did not call for any independent body to oversee as the present opposition is requesting.
Govt officers need to have various checks done but if those at the top who find various excuses do not want their required financisl data publisjed as rewuired by law to compare what they originally put when runnjng for political office and there is no punishment........then why should the regular govt officer want to even be asked to do one....even though there may be strong suspicions ie llike the new house, house on many islands where they have been stationed, apartments, expensive car, beachfront property, boat, trips abroad, ....bank officers usually can pick up on changes....while there are obvious genuine explanations.....in govt despite changes in govt there is a hardcore nomenklatura in govt family, godparents, et c who protect each other. Ever wonder why few employers ever charged with hiring illegals, harbouring illeggals, continuous human smuggling and no gang leaders or gang broken up?? Many pore gets ripped off by banks, insurance companies, govt offices etc is obvious given thoisands of transactions but many just have to walk away with few avenues left to pursue. When yinna pore few people knows you.
For many years the businesses wid all dey beautiful people dressed in suit an collar wid tie an beautiful wemmen dressed in beautiful clothes an all employed in big offices wid air conditioning piping cold, muddoes, orkid plants on counter could do no wtong according to we da pore Bshamian. Well its time peple catch sense an find out dey fancy dressed wid white collar suit an tie aint no different than we dey pore Bahamian who put on pants one foot at a time like dem too.
