What is the starting salary for a policeman $......., a govt school teacher $........,a govt nurse$........., a janitor $.........a govt doctor ,.....a bank teller$....... if one is to consider a pay oncrease of $60 to $70,000 per annum for a govt mp.
Will the MP representative get to sit in the front row.
Sorry to hear he has passed. Every possible robbery victim is 100% safer in this case knowing some lawyer would not have him plead not guilty amd have him out on the street again where he can rob any one else in this country with a gun. May the good Lord have mercy on his soul.RIP.
Demand for a salary increase to hand out cash to constituents should be curtailed. Would this be on line what any political party stands for?..Handouts.
Instead the MP should redirect these persons to the Social Servicrs or Labour Board where they can get long term and constrictive assistance instead of depending on handouts.
Contributing to derailing the govt where the true demands should be planned and extended hides the truth from any govt into how serious poverty and hardship of the people and many govts would not be able to provide adequate budget help or focus on job creation as necessary and the inderlyong displrasure who dont get any hand outs only mean there is a good chance of the MP acting against the interrst of the party to be reelected.. If you give to one give to all.......I am in the Pinewood srea plenty voters in my house and I have friends who are voters off Meadow St. and.....is this the Wesrminister system..?..
Excellent observer2. The senior govt official comments have shaken the bejesus and rattled business confidence and with the track record of placing officials on governing Boards who oversee questionable issues but do little. No way should it have come to the need for public funds into the Bank of the Bahamas without heads rolling. No way should it have come after repeated complaints on 100% increases of Bank fees over a year that irate citizens should have to publictly hold protests in front of TV cameras. This is not the level of communications and understanding as coming from a mature financial centre towatds its clients, particularly one that aspires to be like Singapore.. There is just no protection for the customer. There should be an independent agency of bank supervision etc as exists in the UK among other changes. Businesses must be protected, Bahamians must be protected.
If the MPs get any increase it will mean more purchasing power etc. See the Venezuelan fella eating the meat pie an how heavy he getting. The janitorial staff therefore will have more work and should also get a psy increase. Glennis Hanna, the Speaker and D Aguilar should also get a pay increase
How many people on the Family Islands buy the newspapers on a daily basis to happen to read those Notice of Quieting published in one towards the back page section.
Also who in the public in the respective Family Island who may know sometjing about one of those Citizenship notices in the newspapers ever gets to see the ad about someone from the Mud or even from a P.O Box number.
Does anyone in the govt ever think about these things...? Public Notices being published and few ever get the chance to read it or even understand english,...?
politicians elected are the servants of the people. At least they say so before getting elected. It is we the people to blame if we elect the wrong persons, it is we to blame if we do not ask them if they believe in Hanging or find their views on issues of concern. Thank goodness one of the laws to come is the ability to sign petition to recall your MP. Anyone who wants a pay increase from 28k to 60 to 70 k is just the same as blaming the guy who got an increase from 150k to 200k which should for percentage comparison would be around 320k. Case of both sodes of the same coin.
Birdie, from how many govts ago are you speaking about..?.....And you mean to say that this new DPM is still talking about Quieting being wrong..? Come to think of it didnt the Privy Council have to say something aboit some CAT Island land issue which I would have imagined the For,mer DPM in the last govt might have something to say about land in the island he represents. Both the govy and opposition know about the questionable Quieting of lands and yet it continues. Talk cheap money buy land and Quieting get it for free it seems.
Newly elected government working steadily to ensure the Rights of all its citizens and residents......whoa.....hold it right there......aint no rights for any resident who is here illegally to suck off of my VAT and taxes for no free education......Bahamians first. Show where the United Nations says that the Bahamian people must have bread taken out of their mouths to feed some other nations children...Bahamians have had VAT taxes imposed on them and now the govt wants to impose more taxes.....to continue this practice.? They illegal resident children must accompany their illegal resident parents back home as they should not infuse themselves with the knowledge of officials to continue. ...and officials must be held as accpmplices in breaking the laws and punished.......Bahamian people struggling going to bed hungry and freeness in edication costing money handed out....?.
Thanks croberts6969. I was getting to the personal income tax where salaries are known to NIB but there were discussion that owners of businesses would not take a salary or minimize it to avoid paying taxes that would be due. Individuals would be exempt on the first 25k pay a 1.5 % on next ? Etc with credits activities like donations etc
