When banks make profits in the Bahamas dont thry have to pay Tax on Profits as it is remitted to the Headoffice of the Banks located in Barbados etc .....so ?..
What should happen is that locals should have a different level. Incentives and credits should also be included in the mix to envourage and offset scaring the bejesus out of the local business community....?already suffering from the successful exttaction of 1.3 billoon dollars of disposable income and some 42 million placed in someplace where it cannot be found six months after elections ...
Instead of corporate why not consider income tax where the wealthy can shoulder some taxes that the majority of the poor people have been shouldering equally as is in all the countries carrying VAT and income tax as was noted to be inevitable direction in discussions prior to VAT....

When all this was going on why wasnt the opposition in the know as govt officials salaries should be public knowledge shouldnt it.....
Somehow we should not have to see what a new govt has to say about the past one.....because if we have to we might just elimonate the position of Opposition and save money...

For the umpteenth time we know this, we also know that we need a land registry, we aslo know we need to have published listing of Crown lands and owners as it is the peoples land not belonging to one politician, we also know thst persons who claims the crown land for vacation retirement home but promptly resell it is fraudelrnt snd should be punished, we also know that handing out land if it is to reward political ctonies is wrong, we also know years ago the Privy counsil said Quietjng is not good,............so what is anyone going to do about it?....?

You are not an elite because you are in parliament, someone should tell you you are a servant and being in parliament is a privilage. Now I have heard it all that we cannot expect politicians who have staff who are earning 3 to 4 and 5 times their (MP,, politician) salaries they (MP...politician) must sit there and not indulge in some form of curruption.

Given the 28k salaries, it is more than what many bankers, lawyers, school teachers, nurses, policemen make. Are the thousands of them given to curruption?...

As for the humble janitorial staff making more than the MP politicians a Public apology is owed to them for implying that their work is not more so important and productive for them to be earning their salaries if indeed their salaries are as much as that.

Bank pf the Bahamas was taking web shop funds before legally legislated. Operating without meeting tier ratios and even suing its regulator. We need a Financial Conduct Authority where supervision and aufiting is removed from any govt controlled agency where the govt appoints the Directors
From some 500 offshore banks to some 250 should tell that we need mindset changes not more material.

There would be the correct number of plates franchise in service if the rules if the franchise were followed.
A franchise plare is given to who knows how the rules are to receive one but assumed to go to some political connected.
This playe is to be used by the beneficiary and handed back or taken back upon death or default.
However they remain and are rented out to someone else who ptovides the vehicle and a tent is charged.
All officials who allow this to happen should be reprimanded for this as no govt should have the right to give a franchise in perpetuity after death or incapacity of the original recipient.

Indeed a formidable job and our survival depends on it.
First we must look at the Bahamian nomenclatura and the apparatchic and stop the perpetuation of politicians rewarding their cronies with appointments to Boards of Directors where they can do crap and not be accountable.

We need to seriously ask how come there is no white collar crime in the Bahamas but persons on the poverty level can be charged with stealing a candy bar or tuna and rice and get years in jail.
Lets investigate the Mortgsge debacle and charge any bank who did not do due care amd diligence in giving loans thay should not be given, loams that were faulty accessed etc. Why should 4000 mortgage accounts go bad and all the balme on the customer and these accounts tie up funds to be lent out.
Lets ask why Banks were selling mortgage customers mortgage insirance yo ptotect loans that were never used. Or can banks sell mortgage indemnity insirances and who gets the commission.
Lets investigate why when there is a problem with the bank for the customer there is noone for the small man to turn to.
Why is it foreogners and Bahamians have to complaon about the time in court waiting.
Where is the Ombufsman.
Is there freefom of information to research.
Why despite the most lawyers per population we have no land registry and at best lawyers opine that their title search is sibject to the tegisyry where mistakes could occur etc
Why should busonesses have to pay huge bank fees that have risen and nothing can be done.
Plenty more questions can be asked till the coes come home but as long as we have the Bahamian nomenclatura and apparatnetchic we suffer.
