We, the people, must learn to understand the Budget details so we can call "foul" long before any Opposition rep does! We have a responsibility as citizens. We can't let 'em get away with shoddy husbandry! They work for us, remember.
Hope these vendors do not expect Government to pay them back! The previous govt reps set a terrible example of using our tax dollars to pay vendors when things went wrong with their ventures. If you want to be in business, you have to accept the risks!
We all yearn for the good ole days of Freeport! Those days won't come back so look at present and try to forecast the future based on what is happening now. How can we get GB into participating in the technology boom, for example? Open the borders? Provide enticing incentives for investors? Do we know if any of these companies want to come here? What does it take? We have land, infrastructure, some trained and outstanding Bahamian personnel here and abroad...proximity to lucrative markets...surely there is a place for us in the world of commerce etc. We have to find our niche! Other places are welcoming investors, let's get in the market too. Otherwise, we will be drawing straws for turning off the lights!
This is the most important need in our country! Be resolved to "think out of the box" and begin by studying what is happening around the world with successes/failures before applying principles to our country. An overhaul is long overdue. What we have now is clearly not working despite the millions spent. Our children are resigned to be labelled failures since they can't move beyond D-grades, but they have to move on with their lives anyhow. Please work towards getting it right...and we shall have a worthy goal to aim for!
The lessons learned here: ensure the paperwork is in place to leave the legitimate paper trail. Act like a businessman as well as a creative consultant!
Let's see these bills! This amazing level of debt is the people's greatest worry. Accurate or padded? It boggles the mind and we fear we can never pay it off!
These press releases should come from the new Press Office and should detail facts in prepared comments. Doesn't look good to have the Minister unable to cite facts when speaking to press. Cabinet members must be trained in these new procedures so that everyone operates from same playbook!
"Thisisours" states what I want to see as well! This is how the people can get truth as to how the government is working and whether they should buy-in to the strategic plan. The FNM has two years max to prove their worth...after that we, the people, will be counting the days to get rid of them!
