Yep - the economy will be so bad that the PLP will get voted back in by default and Brave Davis will do another dodgy PLP deal with the Chinese to bail our economy out and finally let them foreign fishing boats in whether we like it or not. At least our heroic Papa Doc made himself proud for saving all those lives, is just a shame he doesn't give a rat a... about the rest of us healthy folks making a living
Well I can tell you one thing. If I was the MP of somewhere in Eleuthera or Exuma right now, I would not be taking NO for an answer from the PM. Your political survival is being thrown down the toilet by a man who is obviously so out of his depth and flailing around with CV19 hysteria that he does not have the slightest grasp of the human suffering that the lockdown is causing. We have been in total lockdown for nearly three months folks. If this so-called doctor had any idea at all what was what, he would know that if zero people have symptoms by now, then it is perfectly safe to assume that the disease is not present. It is scientifically impossible for a small community to harbor CV19 for 10 weeks and nobody knows about it
so how about stores that are curbside one day and indoor the next. What is your brilliant, scientific rationale for that. I can go into a hardware store on Monday but have to mill around in the street on Tuesday. Do they use different staff on Mondays that they care less about ? The PM is making the rules up as he goes and people like you are actually sitting around justifying the insanity of those rules. Think about it. Wendy's fast food employees are OK to work all day and night but engineers are not. Please go ahead and translate CV19 lockdown safety protocols from all of your of your historic date and scientific research that demonstrates that a 19 year old hamburger line cook is more qualified to social distance at work than somebody with an engineering degree
The WHO got us into the lockdown and has no idea how to get us out of it....no wonder Papa Doc loves the WHO. The Bahamas needs to stop being everyone else's little beach and got it alone. No more WHO, no more WTO, no more EU putting their foot on our neck telling us what to do with our offshore banking. Stay friends with the USA and tell everyone else to love us OR leave us
So the "Public Servants" that failed us miserably in preparing for and initially responding to a pandemic can not manage to 'test' our way out of the lockdown. The lockdown they convinced us all was the only option. Was it for two weeks to flatten the curve ? Was it for a month to three months to "destroy" the virus ? What's it for now ? To prove that we "naughty children" will do as we are told ? Last month we were going to test our way out but it now appears the only test kits that these guys could get their hands on - had to come with a plane full of wealthy foreigners and the MOH's resignation. Seriously, talk about paddling us up sh.t creek and then throwing away the paddle !
Forget early closing of our borders and quarantine the vulnerable so that we could all stay working and keep our economy afloat. Nope. Just blind fear, panic and communist-inspired lockdown. And what did we get for allowing Pappa Doc to grant himself absolute authority and comply with his every whim? A denial of reality. A denial that he really did not have any idea what he was getting us in to. Arbitrary rules literally made up or changed on a daily basis with zero scientific basis or common sense behind them - with just enough arrogant bullying thrown in to justify the incompetence. That is it. That is all our leader has achieved on our behalf.
For all of you who can't think for yourselves and trust that Pappa Doc is doing a good job. I say anyone can be a dictator and bully us around with fear and the threat of jail and ridiculous fines. What we haven't seen is courage and imagination to get us out of this lockdown as quickly as humanly possible. Why, because Pappa Doc has more power than anyone has ever seen in this country and he can do whatever he wants
This island can open but this one can not, even though there have been no cases reported for months in either. You think there is any science in this, or is he punishing an entire island community full of god-fearing, law-abiding citizens because a few have misbehaved? You think it makes sense to deny hard working Bahamians a right to return to their livelihoods when there is zero risks of infections just because you are annoyed. Since when is that enlightened leadership? It is an absolute abuse of power and a travesty for an elected representative of the people to behave in this way
The sham is going to be up when all of this is over and the money piper comes a calling. I have no doubt that it will be proven that a total lockdown was not the best course of action in the long run. And when the economic results of the shutdown cause VAT to go up 20%, bank loans to go up to 20% and unemployment stays at 30%. Then all you are going to remember is the bullying and one man's love of controlling your lives
Dont worry. Elections will come around sooner or later and these so-called "Public Servants" are going to have to crawl into a deep hole and lick their wounds once the people have had a chance to realize how abusive they have been. Add a ruined economy to that and the PLP could run a drunk three-leg donkey and it would win
This FNM Government is by far and away the weakest, most unimaginative bunch of losers we have ever had in power. They blindly followed bad advice into this ridiculous lockdown and now they want to see what everyone else is doing to come out of it. My lord we are all doomed. Just know this one thing you bunch of 'fake leaders'. A year and a half from now when it turns out that there were far better alternatives to managing this virus than communist styled lockdown - and you are having to raise VAT to 20%, raise prime lending interest rates to 20% to keep the $B peg, raising duty on everything and we are all still unemployed..............nobody is going to be thanking you for scaring the bajesus out of everyone and locking us up every weekend. Nobody will remember the people you claim to have saved. You will just be voted out and remembered as the folks that caused the worst economic crisis in Bahamian History.
At least no one has gotten sick this week. Phew. I think so long as we just do whatever these foreigners in the WHO tell us to do and stay committed to the lockdown none of us are going to get the virus until at least after the lockdown ends. I guess the experts think that it is better to ruin the economy and run out of foreign reserves before we try and develop herd immunity. Or something like that.
The US is heading full speed to a healthy and permanent recovery by means of herd immunity. They have finally taken the mature and scientifically proven route of protecting the vulnerable and letting the masses develop their own natural immunity to this virus so that it no longer has any power over them. And surveys say in the USA that the first thing Americans want to do when this is all over is go on vacation to a nice beach with their family. Are we going to be standing here with our arms wide open, or hiding under our beds crying for China to bail us out in exchange for whatever they can get, for giving us this virus in the first place
