Quite a few years ago the one of the Police Chiefs in the London Metropolitan Police Force announced that the officers under his command would no longer arrest and detain people for simple possession of cannabis. He knew it was a waste of time and resources, and just plain wrong. This was an act of courage and integrity which led to the decriminalization of cannabis possession. Now if only............

The usual negative comments from the usual commentators. You never miss the water until the well run dry. It is sad that some Bahamians would like to see all the enclaves in the country that are the home to wealthy Bahamians and wealthy foreigners closed and their many employees without a job. Just sad.

I think we are very fortunate to have Mr. Terrance Bastian as our Auditor General; he is the only one in the past 47 years to actually do the work that defines the position

Anyone who calls out right wing Christian fascists is OK with me. Well done Simon; keep calling the hypocrites hypocritical even as they grow fat on the tithes of their sheepists.

This is how to obtain a knighthood from the Queen in this country; just construct a subdivision without regard to the height above see level, sell it to you cronies in government so they can give the homes to their supporters and presto you get your knighthood.

I much suspect that you may be correct, DWW, with your assertion that everyone will eventually contract the novel corona virus however the point of the lockdowns, mask wearing, and social distancing, is not to prevent everyone from becoming infected but rather to prevent everyone becoming infected at the same time. /if this happens then the medical resources available to treat the worst cases will not be adequate. This will result in unnecessary deaths. This is the theory as I understand it, time will tell if it is true.

my cents worth. I have worked in the nursing profession in a junior capacity many years ago. Nurses can be the most wonderful caring people in the world. In most countries the profession is underpaid. he National Health Service in the UK has determined a year or so ago that 5 shifts of 8 hours per shift resulted in better patient care than 4 shifts of 10 hours per shift. Less medical mistakes were made. The PHA is right on this one, the Union Leader is wrong. Political ambitions at work perhaps?

Great editorial. Thank you Editor for having the integrity to publish what will obviously be an unpopular t truth. I will happily report any selfish covid 19 spreading groups who consider themselves too special to obey the law.

Mr. Evans appears to be a member of the far right Christian movement and his letters should be read with a great deal of discrimination. Bigotry is ugly in whatever form it takes.
