With regards to Mrs. Burnside's remarks regarding " the gentle Lucayans of the Old World whom Columbus encountered upon our shores in 149" I would like to remind her that of the warlike, possible cannibal , Caribs who also were in the vicinity. These islands were far from paradise prior tomColumbus. Only a fool would think so.
It is so very hard to own and manage a business this country. Not all, but many employees will steal wharever they can, the work ethic is almost non existant, a worker thinks he is doing the company a great favor by agreeing to be employed. But, hey, let's see if we can make it even harder for the business owners?
If this church person gets rewarded by the PLP government within the next year or so with a comfortable government appointment complete with generous ubfunded pension and,or with the awarding of a King's honour, (OBE?} then inquiring minds may be led to the conclusion that this entertainer was singing for supper by doing his Earthly master's bidding. We have seen this scenario played out beore.
I can only wonder if the Honourable Darren Henfield knows the history of this country, specifically, whether he knows that the governing authorities in power at the time fought long and hard against the abolition of the institute of slavery? Sometimes those outside this country do know better than the elected or appointed politicos. Just saying.....
When you have someone who has spent most of his life getting paid to say that a talking snake caused human beings to start wearing clothes then his credibility must come in for consideration by any thinking educated person. So many of these church business owners look to be rewarded by politicians with land grants or well paid government appointments; we must be very careful taking anything that they say at face value. There could well be a hidden agenda behind publically made statements as we have seen all too often.
Wouldn't it be great if The Labour Department could be targeted with an investigation to determine just what all these State Employed Workers actually do all day, if anything, ,and how effectively they do whatever it is that they are supposed to be doing?
If, as claimed, the government is seeking to reduce backlog of police-involved killing cases, then it will have to work both hard and efficiently. Neither of which qualities are usually associated with State Employed Workers. The Bahamas has one of the highest rates , per capita, of police involved killings of any country in the world. Good luck to all involved in this effort if it is real.

Take nothing at face value. There is always an underlying agenda involved in everyone's agenda.
