Competent, decisive rational leadership could have gotten us through this crisis without adding to the levels of stress covid- 19 would have brought on its own. The irrational, illogical decision making of the cabinet is doing far more to damage lives than this virus!!

If the governments intention was to find a way to spread this virus quickly among the population, then their decisions over the past three days that drove crowds of people into food stores did just that. Now let's sit back and watch the consequences of their ill fated decisions in the health of the citizens of this country over the next three weeks! They will have innocent blood on their hands!

Bahamians are so used to incompetent leadership that some will actually think Minnis is doing a good job!!

... Minnis does not get it. The streets of Nassau and grocery stores look like people getting ready for a hurricane. Whoever made this decision is a dimwit!

So since there will be long lines at all times, when should "essential workers" who get off after their allotted shopping time grocery shop?

... the point I was making is that our mortality rate is disproportionately high compared to other Caribbean countries and the question is why!.

Compare Martinique with 149 confirmed cases and 4 deaths or Barbados with 56 confirmed cases and 1 death for instance!

So much information is not being given. So many questions to ask.

At what point are these people being tested, when they first develop symptoms or when they are about to breathe their last breath?

How can so many people be positive with no direct links (you can't get the virus from yourself)?

Why are so many positive cases at home, and are there others in those homes?

If the current mortality rate is approximately 14% what does that say about the standard of medical care being given? Are there any other countries in the world with such a high mortality rate?

… a wasted $6 million dollars considering the hurdles this country has to face!! Hurricane season is right around the corner!

… this is what should apply to cruise ship passengers for ships registered in our waters as well. But then again our leaders and decision makers are not that bright!!

joeblow says...

… unfortunately it cannot because the virus survives on certain surface for at least five days and people can have asymptomatic spread for at least 10-14 days. So the shut down should be at least 2 weeks minimally!

By social distancing you reduce the opportunity for the virus to jump from one person to another! That is why it is absolutely necessary!!!
