Oh, just to be clear. This inability is NOT because we don't have an office in China and therefore cannot do it. No, that's not it.

Great Britain does not ALLOW us to do it.

The Bahamas is NOT allowed to issue Visas to Chinese citizens to visit the Bahamas. This must be done by Great Britain ONLY.

It is a sad state of affairs that the "independent" Bahamas cannot issue a visa to someone to visit it. Wow.

Whitfield, Foulkes, and other days-gone-by persons FORGOT to remove the word "colonies" from appearing in several places in General Orders which govern the public service.

I guess they really weren't that serious about independence after all. Oh, but we can remember them and honour them - why not? We've got nothing better to do while we wait on our potholes to be fixed.

So why was the hearing postponed until Aug 1st to then even consider whether the prisoners ought to be brought before a judge to be seen? Are their injuries that bad, that they're hoping they can get them stitched up and prettied up, and glossed over by that time? Hoping the judge can't tell how bruised and battered they were July 24th when the initial court hearing took place?

Aug 1st for the postponed hearing, then an order that they be brought in. Hey that's a Thursday, so the center will argue that Monday the 5th would be earliest they could comply. So that's like nearly 2 weeks. Man they must be some rough bruises on them prisoners they don't want the judge to see.

Tell us the details of what they are planning - don't keep it a secret. What horrible things are they planning to do? Eh ?

If all Bahamians are concerned about is Nygard, Stem Cells, and the former election contributions - then they deserve what they get. There are WAY more pressing issues that that.

Well then, since you disagree, you can keep being affected by murderers and other high criminals being let of jail on bail - to make room for petty smokers.

Your choice.

The other thing is the Govt needs to tell us in specific detail what the heck we are getting in return for being tied to the whipping post by these agreements? Is there a silver lining to this cloud?

It is amazing that pastors can get on their high horse against abortion - while fully aware that there are only two little sorrowful children's homes in Nassau, none in Abaco, I believe only one in FPO, and none in many other family islands.

There is nowhere to keep/house these children you are forcing into the world, pastor.

Would you be willing to give 20% of your 10% to help the government build and sustain more children's homes nationwide?

Would you be willing to help push through parliament a baby food and health bill which would collect, monitor, and utilize new taxes specifically for taking care of unwanted, but born, babies? Such as an extra 1cent per gallon gas tax, a 1% tax on water bill amounts, a 1% tax on rice, cereal, grits, flour, and sugar, and a 15% tax on diapers, baby food, and all other baby related items ????????????

I doubt you would. Would you explain to your flock that we NEED this money to protect "God's" children who are so very precious and need to be born and brought into the world at an alarming rate of speed ??????

Put your money where your mouth is, and grab the bull by the horns. Raising children cannot just be done from a pulpit or in the newspapers - it requires many things such as food, housing, medicine, and parents or parent substitutes. get these things in place, then you can run your mouth about who else doesn't care about human beings right to life. Anyone can run their mouth - it takes effort to do something instead.

When the FNM was in power they threw Glennys Hanna Martin out the House for wanting to talk about the boy who was found hung by his own belt in the police station.

Now they want to speak whenever they want to.

They gave the excuse back then that the rules of the House were the same ones they met in place, and they would entertain any motion to change them by the opposition PLP.

No motion was forthcoming.

However, for Minnis to claim democracy is in jeopardy is crazy. The FNM could have played hard ball back then for a few months to make a point - but then they should have changed the rules to allow members of parliament to speak in turn on scheduled times on whatever subject they see fit within time limits etc.

The fact of the matter is, and i wonder how many citizens know this, that YOUR MP cannot represent YOU. He/She is NOT allowed to speak (on your behalf) unless they get permission from someone else.

That is not democracy - that is dictatorship or monarchy.
