We have been coming to Nassau every year for at least 12 years. Many times twice a year. I cannot count the number of times we have been to the fish fry. We have never had a problem I cannot imagine why the State Department is saying this.
Although I agree with some of Mr. Myers statements, his placing of the lack of productivity all on "labour" is wrong. Almost everyone agrees higher wages without a corresponding increase in productivity is stifling to a successful economy but it is NOT the only reason. Freezing wages has NEVER turned an economy around. It is much more complicated than that.
Please take a moment and read this article published in March of 2017 in the Tribune. It really does help explain the issues that must be addressed in order to turn an economy around.
Baha Mar's business plan and financials will determine whether it is successful or not and that is as it should be. The government and it's citizens should stay out of it. If it is meant to be successful it will be. If not the investors have made a mistake.
Very well written, Nicole. Your country will only become great again if people like yourself stay and work to make the Bahamas the magnificent country it has the opportunity to be. Unfortunately, that sometimes requires sacrifice. I hope you decide to sacrifice the benefits you may enjoy by moving to another country and stay and work to fix the inequities and inefficiencies of the country you love. You Nicole, are the future of the Bahamas and your country needs you. I hope you stay!
Tal, you can continue to revisit the past to justify bad behavior if you like. For me I am happy the problem and corruption is being addressed. I am sure you can go back to the 1950's to find something on a party you obviously despise. what matters is now!
We have neighbors who will not come to the Bahamas anymore because the last two times, while staying in a rented house in Abaco, lost all their refrigerated food because of power outages. I am very pleased that the new government is addressing this kind of corruption.
NO ONE deserves special treatment except those who are disadvantaged. .
