The first page of the "audit" report (as printed in Bahamas Press) clearly states that it is not an audit and does not conform to any international standards ... sounds to me like someone got some money to sling some mud. A number of claims are made without any supporting facts or evidence. This report does not seem to be worth the paper it is written on. Just another PLP getting a contract and producing garbage.
***"Mr Smith directs Mr Brown to ensure the promotion and increments of two individuals"*** So the chairman is now directing promotions ... would be interesting to know who these persons are and if they are actually ***qualified*** to receive the promotions directed.
This government is not serious about crime ... if they were the Deputy Prime Minister would not be taking pictures with gaming bosses (gambling is STILL illegal) and says he sees nothing wrong with it. How then do you expect criminals to see anything wrong with stealing from you and me when the goverment is in bed with "white collar" criminals? Crime is crime ... either you are against all forms or you are a part of the problem.
Did the immigration officers do anything wrong? Shouldn't he have been traveling with some document that proves his status? Why then did the government apologize and if there was the need to apologize because the officers acted inappropriately, shouldn't someone be fired or at least reprimanded?
Seems to me like his colour and social status played a big role in the need for this apology. Care to refute or clarify that Mr. Minister?
A payroll/income tax can be structured to protect the most vulnerable among us ... for example, persons who make below a preset salary pay no income tax and then prorate the taxation level as salaries increase ... like this ... below 10,000 pa - no tax; 10,001 to 15,000 - 15%; 15,001 to 20,000 - 16%; 20,001 to 25000 - 17% etc up to a predetermined percentage (say 25%). This will negate the impact of higher percentage increase at areas where the threshold exists I bet it would bring in more money and would be easier and cheaper to administer as we could the existing NIB structure or something similar.
Zero tolerance for crime ... what a joke ... let's see how serious you are Fred ... start with the numbers boys and work your way over to the white collar theives who rape and pillage this country ... then target the drug dealers and murderers ... oh, I forgot the numbers boys finance your party so deh ain criminal ... das right.

Just wondering ... did they also apologise to the Haitians/Bahamians or others (primarily blacks) who may have been impacted by this?
