This could be another white elephant just like Our Lucaya on GB. 4 years of legal wrangling, nothing happening and the poor people of Abaco will get to do the suffering. Looking at Kovats history this is a bad deal. Make whoever buys it put up a $5 million bond for development. That will get rid of the shadows. Time is of the essence. This new government seems to be taking care of business. This Our Lucaya was a disaster-don’t destroy North Abaco. This will be a good opportunity for the new government to shine.

On Concerns mount over Treasure Cay future

You would think the government would provide drinkable water, reliable electricity and sewage where it existed before. Ok, forget the personal home rebuilds. But, in Treasure Cay there are 350 residences that formerly had sewage and now don’t. Furthermore, those poor, storm dazed people even ponied up over $600,000 to fix the sewer. But, do you think WSC and the government can take 10 minutes to say go ahead? The answer is NO!! What kind of a government is this. Think of all the income lost to the locals because 700 or 800 people can’t come to Treasure Cay because they can’t flush their toilet. It is a shame!

BPL is a joke. This is the 21st century! This isn’t brain surgery. We are using the same technology that has been around for 100 years! Planes don’t drop out of the sky because the engines stop working! Somebody in the government needs to step up and get the infrastructure in place!

There is no way the FAA or NTSB would stop investigating the crash in the US because the pilots weren’t “rated” for this aircraft, even if it was reported “stolen”. They would be working side by side with law enforcement. Just because the pilot wasn’t “rated” for this type of aircraft doesn’t mean he couldn’t fly it. A Cessna pilot watching YouTube videos would know how to start it and could take off in it. It’s pretty basic. No, there is much more going on here.

Don’t think so. Now, all airplanes are tracked. Anyone can see almost any plane in transit on FlightAware. Furthermore, as the pilots entered the plane they would see the “cargo”. Also, no respectable drug dealer would leave $50 million in cocaine on board the aircraft for days. Just offload it during the night. The plane is registered to a company in Houston. At $300,000 value it’s a “throwaway” plane on a $50 million drug deal. I don’t understand why the investigation of why it crashed ended just because the pilots weren’t rated. That would never happen in the US. Smells like a car full of aged conch to me. Will we ever know the truth? Only if some investigative reporter digs in.

Why would anyone fly over Nassau to come to TCB instead of getting fuel in Nassau on the way to TCB. There are way more questions that need to be answered. I wonder if we will hear any more.

Just one more fee for people wanting to fly to the Bahamas. $50 landing fee, $60 health visa, $29 departure fee. So, you are now at $ $139 to land. Plus, now another $11 so we are at $150. Welcome to the Bahamas!

Where were the police while all this building was going on? Well, supposedly, the police didn’t have any place to stay in Abaco after Dorian. And, the few officers that were there rarely left their lodgings. Maybe the government should have hired The Farm workers to build lodging for them. Because, even though the government couldn’t figure out a way to “lodge” the police, the people at the farm managed to build hundreds of homes, some with impact windows, porches, generators and AC units. The looting has been relentless in Abaco. I pray for everyone here in the Bahamas that they don’t get a hurricane because the government can’t even supply basic necessities like water and electricity. They can’t even supply police!

The DRA is a joke. $2.7 million to help the people who need it but the government says it is going to spend something like $6 million on the TCB airport? Because of the delay by the DRA, poor souls are going to pay 100% more for materials then they would have a year ago. It’s been over 18 months since Dorian. Let this be a lesson to any other island that will be hit by a hurricane. you are on your own! Our government is great at making promises to get a lot of hype. But, there is no follow through!

It remains a mystery to me why the Bahamas requires a PCR test. Even the US allows a rapid test. Some countries even allow vaccinated people without tests. Time for us to move forward and alleviate another problem for travelers coming to visit us. I would rather have vaccinated guests than tested guests!
