Is speeches still relevant in the House of Assembly? Last time the House as relevant in my opinion was in the 1992-1997 session of the House.

At least this is the first Speaker of the House who is not just following the party line but trying to make a difference.

*“The rule is, in my estimation, undemocratic and not in the best interest of the minorities in Parliament because they will never have the majority vote. This is not a new issue. For a while I took the position that you should eat what you serve. Don’t put rules in place when you are in government that you cannot live with when you’re in opposition, particularly undemocratic rules.

“But I don’t think it’s the role of the Speaker to sit by and accept something that he knows is wrong and undemocratic. No matter what party he’s elected under, he has a moral obligation to make sure the principles are carried out.”*

I applaud Moultrie for what he is doing. If e truly follow through on this, he will do what no other speaker has had the backbone to have done. Kudos Mr. Speaker.

Make sure put the blame here it need to go. The Commissioner of Prisons lied. The Minister shared the facts. No political rhetoric is needed

Election fraud? Seriously?

A permanent register is the most sensible thing. It ensures the democratic right of every Bahamian to vote. No longer do you have to go through the ridiculous process of registering every 5 years.

Further, it would hopefully do away with the stupidity of people who register on the day parliament is dissolved not being able to vote.

This is the move in the right direction for democracy and the rights of each citizen to vote.

I'm really trying to figure out who are the people who are jumping to get on a cruise ship now? Just because the cruise ship is booking I guess Maura figure it will be full of people? A floating catastrophe.
