We need to name the PI bridge after Sir Durward. Great article. We forget the people who stayed at home and fought to keep this country together and were not ones to give up their citizenship. Sir Durward has done more for this country than Sidney Poitier.
The low turnout is due to the fact that those of us in Freeport never was aware that URCA had scheduled a meeting. Their last public communication had said that they were coming to Grand Bahama last.
For the PLP to be going so hard at Gomez, it must mean that they are afraid of something? COuld it be that they have already lost the people and want to muddy the waters? This is gutter politics.
So the people who say to Believe in Bahamians are going to terminate Bahamians because they were sick and did not show up to work. As far as I am aware, the law of the land is that a person is entitled to two sick days off without a doctor's certificate. Does the Minister of Labour not know this? How can a person be terminated for being off one day sick. Me thinks the Minister of Labour misspoke. However, how does the minister of labour speak for the Minister of Health anyway? Curious
Here comes another episode similar to baseball in the Bahamas, this time involving tennis. Can we ever wonder why we can't move ahead when these associations can never get together to work with each other?
When Cable Bahamas was transitioning to digital, there were days on end when you came home to no cable, or a plethora of stations were out. They had an administrator who came on the news stations and lied saying that they understand the inconvenience and as soon as they are finished they transition, they would provide a credit to all accounts. has anyone seen any credit on their accounts to date?
How is it that a basic package that is basically garbage with the channels that they have (Spanish and french stations in a english speaking country) can even request an increase in price when they have not done anything to make the channels offered in the basic package any better. this request needs to be denied until they give people the credit they promised and they improve the channel offerings in the basic package.
I agree with your assessment of ZNS during the Olympics. It was pathetic. Which I why I watch the coverage on CTV. The commentators on CTV were more ecstatic with the Bahamas winning the 4 x 400 than the so called commentator in ZNS iMc coverage who called the race.
Thank goodness for Cable Bahamas Canadian connection or else my whole olympic experience would have been dashed.
Here again is another example of a lack of leadership and advancement in our nation. Persons who have been in for three terms, rather than stepping aside to allow for other leaders are wanting to continue. Will we ever get to the place of having term limits in our country in order to provide for the views and development of others in leadership?
In reference to the celebrations, it is sad that the focus was only on the 4 x 400 team. Arianna did something historic in swimming and it was totally lost sight of.
Lastly, the BOC needs to expand the olympic team. I was disappointing to watch countries with fewer participants in the olympics than the Bahamas competing in more events than us. We send 25 people to compete in 2 events. We need to broaden our horizons. Otherwise disband all these other sporting federations. There is no point to them if they cannot develop people for these international meets.
