Buying online is one way to save on VAT. While searching online, i discovered that there are already groups that purchase wholesale and ship at reduced costs non perishable items. Think of it as "ASU for laundry detergent".
The air courier businesses that ship at very reasonable prices are booming, booming. When you consider amazon prices, add shipping and duties, you save 25%-30%, so even with VAT there would be savings from current prices, and of course, from increased prices after VAT.
I have heard from skepticistS that one of the reasons they will not release the schedule is that there will not be a spmultaneous decrease in customs duties with the introduction of VAT.
Dr. Rodney Smith is indeed a strong candidate. i believe he learned his lesson. If he sat down to write a speech without copying and pasting, and wrote down any quotes, the problem would be avoided.
In fact, i think all other speakers, do the same thing: When in doubt, ask google.
A commencement speech is not the Gettysburg Address: 1. You start by saying that you believe in philipians 4:13-- (But don't quote, PHDS speak in chapter and paragraph). 2. Now you quote some bromide from JFK or Obama. 4. say godspeed and good riddance.
Many years ago i used to walk at Montagu Beach in the morning, when it was still dark, joining a couple of my neighbours. I stopped. Now they tell me people break the windows of cars to steal items from the car or the trunk while they walk, easy pickings for fancy dell phones or tablets.
Last time I went to Montagu Beach to walk was a Sunday afternoon, Guy pulls up in a truck with two unleashed pitbulls. I got into my car as soon as i could and left, what am I do to do? tell a guy with two unleashed pitbuuls to get off the beach?
They also robbed the family of an American Embassy employee on the beach right by Nesbitt's.
I always carry $50 with me in case of robbery. They might not take any credit cards then.
My $30(thirty) prepaid 8 year old nokia,they are welcome.
This story of cost of living going up a one-time 5% is just lies.
Remember, if the selling price goes up, so does the vat collected.

CIF VAlue : $100
Under 40% Customs Duty and processing fees, and 100% mark up the selling price is $ **282.80**, govt collects **$40**.
Under 22% Customs Duty, plus VAT and no processing fees, and 100% mark up**-excluding vat from mark up-** the selling price is **$ 276.60,** govt collects **$56.00.**
Under 22% Customs Duty, plus VAT and no processing fees, and 100% mark up**-including vat on mark up-** the selling price is **$ 323.50**, govt collects **$64.90**.
There you Go!
If everything is delayed, they will continue to charge the higher customs duty till the very last minute, and get a windfall from that.
the selling price will be even more than the $323.50. Buy what you can now folks. I am dedicating all and any leftover money from my salary, started from december, to buy goods non perishables like soap, toilet paper. and i will stock up on diabetic supplies and get a new pair of glasses.
The new tariff schedule, which the hot line ahd postponed and promised to January 17th is still not there!!!!
What they did say to businesses, which powerpoint is posted online, is that merchants should "reduce their inventory to a minimum", and use the bonded warehouse.
I already see a lot of promotion sales going on and i try to buy what i can.

That fairer argument is a fallacy.
There would be more truth to it if food, beverages, medical supplies, electricity were not vatable.
That way, the increase in items at the food store would be restricted to the rise in input cost to the business.
It borders on criminal to tax food and electricity when the bahamas suffers very high costs in these items already.
