Can you imagine any foreigners in Haiti throwing missiles at the gendarme ? Those who were not shot and killed on the spot would be killed later in jail. But this is the Bahamas, a country of laws, especially for Bahamians! I am getting to the point now ,due to the inability of our successive governments to rein in this Haitian situation, where i am constantly wondering whether i should learn to sing the national anthem in creole.
I have some problems understanding JonnDoes' logic and i would like some assistance in this matter. It seems to me that if a wet suit does what he says, then to alter negative buoyancy, then it has to have a positive effect on it , thereby assisting buoyancy to some degree.
As a black Bahamian, it still grieves me to see after all these years , the white anti-foreign attitude that still permeates our country, which was instilled in us by the late Sir Lynden Pindling, which he used mainly for getting votes .,especially from those who were unconcerned with what was going on in our Bahamaland, but were swayed by the rhetoric. To those of that mentality i would like to say that since i am presently unemployed, semi-retired and sixty and have time on my hands , i would join them in a demonstration to send every foreign company, from Atlantis, foreign banks,BahMar,to KFC out of this country forever ! Then once they are gone ,we can smuggle our was to Miami, just like the Haitians.
I have no problem with BEC paying employees a Christmas bonus simply due to the fact that that it is typical of the PLP ,who have no vision, not realising that this issue would come up around this time of year . It should have been taken cared of around August to give the employees enough time to prepare for it, but since it is so close to Christmas ,it should be given to them.Waiting to see what the government will do next year, their usual capitulation,i guess.
Leslie says that he will stop it, Shane says that you can't stop it,Brave says that he will negotiate to stop it . Wow !! I wonder what Perry says ! Probably all 3 of the above.
One thing i have to say about Perry Christie, he is still sooo "puffed up " about being the prime minister ,that too many times when he can simply say " i ", he says " the prime minister ". He probably reminds Bernardette each night that they sleep together with whom she is sleeping and as for the trip to the Vatican,i think Fred Mitchell sent him there because they are getting the wrong impression from some of the Pope's public utterances.
We must also remember that very few people spend somebodyelse's money the way that they spend their own, especially when they can arrogantly brush off any and all requests for accountability.
Concerning Obie's lips, a man nearing 60,who has never felt the desire to have a wife beside him, says it all . I might add that the only company he has, also nearing 60 years of age , is the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
You have to wonder about this , when a young man says that he keeps a $45,000 dollar medal with him all the time. I know sometimes athletes have a stubborn trait that helps them to achieve their goals ,but did this same trait cause him to "lose his gold" , because i am certain that somebody , a friend, family member, or fellow athlete had to have told him that there were better options available for securing such valuables, but the advice went unheeded.
I have seen the name Brent Stubbs for years as a writer and i am a bit dismayed that he would use the phrase "revert back". The word revert means to go back, so in using that incorrect phrase is like saying "going forward frontwards"
I must congratulate the jury on this verdict because it is very easy for them to be swayed by the lies of the defence, who can say anything , no matter how outrageous to try and get their clients off.Having been a juror myself i know how easy it is to be intimidated by the process and no matter what the judge says about him being the one who makes the decision, many jurors ,no matter how strong the evidence presented against the defendant is, fear " sending people to jail ". This sentiment was even expressed to me by 90% of the jurors who were empanelled with me. Because of this i have become a proponent of no jury trials for many serious offences in the Supreme Court and i have also come to believe that many offenders are walking the streets because of the jury system and i sympathise with the judges who know this ,but must remain silent.
