The Bahamas largest market, where the gov't has spent the most money ($100 million in the last year alone) to draw in tourists is the US.
However the US has continued to be a hotspot for Covid-19 for an entire year while it's gov't is still refusing to address the enormity of this public health crisis.

The gov't of the Bahamas is no less culpable of compounding their own public health crisis by using 'free' antigen tests that cannot detect Coronavirus in asymptomatic cases.
There are rapid tests that work, these are not among them.

There is another proven fact, this virus kills people of color, people with diabetes and other pre existing conditions.

Buy the proper tests, lives are at stake!!

All the Govt has to do is set up travelling lab technicians but the real problem lies in the type of rapid test they are using which they've admitted is useless in detecting Covid in asymptomatic cases.
There are rapid tests that provide better results, the gov't refuses their purchase.

On Cays fears over who will carry out tests

Every day these behemoths are allowed to park without oversight in our pristine waters threatens the environment and the economy of The Bahamas.
The Ministry of the Environment has all the investigative tools and powers needed to make an informed conclusion and act in this matter, in fact all departments of this government have such powers allowing for swift action when called upon.
So why is the 'acting' Director spouting gobbledygook about a 'task force' and 'a group'?
If the crime is known, is blatantly ongoing why hasn't the Ministry stepped in and performed their sovereign duty to protect the environment?
And these are the same guys who will police the offshore drilling of the Bahamas Petroleum Co?
Not a good optics fellas!

The PCIO is using the pandemic as another excuse to rob the Bahamian people of their right to hold their government accountable.

The relaxing of protocols likely reflects the start of cruise ship sailings on November 1st.

The analogies of risk Ms Quant presents ,a car accident, or even God forbid a commercial airline crash are not equivalent examples of the adverse consequences to most every Bahamian industry from an oil spill disaster.
And though BPC could theoretically cause an oil spill of the same magnitude as other infamous disasters, their pockets are notoriously shallow to expect ample compensation.

Unfortunately the CDC has been cut out of the loop, and while the Plan looks good on paper, who will do the enforcing? We know how well that works for their so called environmental controls.
And those who cater to the trade should note the plan is for passengers to only be allowed to disembark w/ tours booked on ship w/strict monitoring.
And it cuts both ways, why have protocols for shelter in place for all visitors except cruisers?
As the season progresses Covid is only going to get worse and the US, in particular FL that had all controls lifted last week is not a healthy place

On Nassau's COVID rate is cruise line concern

They might be doubled in price and out of stock in Nassau but one of the cheaper laptops seen at a local store store was $200 less on Amazon and a used model now out of stock was at least $100 more than a similar model brand new!

Hydroxychloroquine has been debunked as a viable treatment for Covid, studies have shown that using this drug impacted the recovery and health of those patients who received it.
Dr Bethel speaks of speculative drug treatments, not mentioning those that have shown promise, corticosteroids like Dexamethasone are cheap, and a major UK trial has shown its promise reducing death on ventilated patients by 30% and those rec'g oxegyn by 20%. There is also Remdesivir, but the initial hype is slowing as complications and problems arise the latest study showed patients died at the same rate on it or not.
And a 5 day treatment is over $2000.
There are other drug studies in the works convalescent-plasma therapy is another, that are more promising than those Dr Bethel is hyping, frankly I wonder if he just wants to see his name in print...
