If the suggested new Hurricane taxes are temporarily avoided, it is because of the upcoming general election in May 2017. The " Cat has been let out of the bag". If the present government is re-elected the possibility for this suggested new taxes plus additional taxes are a very high. The Bahamas is subject to Hurricanes such a Matthew at any time and obviously a lot more planning and preparedness is in dire need. All political parties should be addressing their plans to handle such an event and possible Health problems that might arise from such events.
With these estimates of this and that, our national rating should be AAA. Maybe the commission should be speaking to these ratings agencies. seriously!!!
Could this be V.A.T. Bahamian funds to insure the New Buyer that the transfer of ownership will be free of any and all Liens for work completed prior to signing any documents to take ownership and responsibility for this property. To date there is no evidence that these funds came from the current owner of this property.
Hopefully the candidates chosen will be upstanding proven successful family persons that are among the people in their daily lives and reside in the constituency nominated for and not just wealthy individuals looking to buy a nomination to increase their wealth on the backs of the Bahamian people. The Nation will be watching and voting for candidates that will make a positive change and TRUE representation in their community/ constituency and for all the Bahamas. Jokers will not do.
Bahamian investigations commence at daybreak and end at sunset. what is not resolved between those two daily events are simply forgotten. That's the Bahamian way.
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that the " results are not good" if they were the PM would have made the announcement many weeks ago. The Bahamian people need to say enough is enough to these jokers and the Media have got to Hound these people for public information like the media in other progressive countries do "pathetic"
We Bahamians have STUPID written all over our foreheads. Why in the world would CEXIM pour additional millions of dollars into a project that they do not have the forecasted outcome known and in their best interest. a buyer already approved. Or is it that they love our Bahama land and want to see all of our people happy and prosperous. If as reported they have $800 Million from the original developer, $1 billion in Prime crown land and another reported $1 billion in concessions, that equals to 100% plus of their reported investment 0f $2.7 Billion in Baha Mar. who really has the upper hand in this.
no problem, just do what "pappa did" increase the amount of contributions to 1 billion retroactive to 1967 and that will eliminated having to pay any pensions to the Bahamian people. The Prime minister can then fly on their own 747 " Bahamas1" airplane worldwide and their own 650 gulfstream Learjet " Bahamas 11" to the out islands ( they are not our family islands)
