Does anything that the government say or do ever mean anything to the Bahamian People other than making the average hard working bahamians poorer and poorer each and every day. Why not bring the celebrations to the Bahamas where it will bring in some needed tourist Treasury dollars and all the bahamian people can celebrate instead of just the "chosen few ". After all " its the peoples time!!????????????
Our poor ( and becoming poorer every year because of the corrupt and incompetent governments we elect) Bahamian people from the age to tell right from wrong know this. The Christie led government from 2012 to 2017 created an addition and new meaning to corruption and incompetence. bold, open, and so what??? corruption and incompetence in government for Bahamians and the rest of the world to witness. Recent events of the oban fiasco, and the principal committing fraud while sitting next to the Prime Minister and the worldwide news of the the fyre festival con, scam in the Bahamas that no one in the bahamas government know about that could have a profound negative affect on our number one industry of tourism.
Because of our geographical Location and the Natural Beauty of our Bahamasland that our good Lord has blessed us with,The Tourism Industry is and will continue to be the life blood of our people. When Government, and its Ministry of Tourism ( which ever political party it may be) causes the reputation of our tourism industry to be jeopardize and compromised by foreigners perpetuating global scams because of government corruption, incompetence, slackness and personal greed, our nation and citizens are doomed. The Netflix documentary, " the greatest party that never happened" will only encourage many more world scam foreigners to our shores to exceed and outdo this Fiasco. This case will be a study tool world wide and unfortunately will cast a derogatory reputation on our Government, Tourism Industry and our people.
Maybe, Just Maybe the 2300 jobs added came about after legalizing shanty town illegal immigrants and adding their employment to the Labour Force Survey. The survey need to state the Industries that these jobs are in, and how many were filled with Work permits and how may are True Bahamians. Sound like the laying of the foundation for and further increase in V.A.T and or Personal Income Taxes in preparation for membership into the WTO.
Apparently all members of the then government(????) were on vacation in the united kingdom when all the foolishness went down. Laughable but very very sad in what our Bahamian people have to endure in electing Leaders to govern and safe guard our country. The government embarrassment of continuous corruption, incompetence and slackness is unfathomable.
Governments come and go every 5 years( really too long for the governments that we Bahamians elect) but coruption corruption remain every day. When this Big Joke started and the Webshop Tax Laws were passed, I remember reading that King Sebas publically announced that he was allocating $5 million to reverse the governments webshop tax laws. who got the $5 Million. Yes!! Hoo-Hah a sure win.
Watching the Netflix documentary, a true Bahamian can only feel embarrassment and shame that such a global scam could be carried out right under our corrupt and incompetent government's watch. As the elected body to protect ALL Bahamians and visitors to our Beautiful Country OUR government and the then ministry of Tourism failed miserably. The documentary show that after being charged with this crime and awaiting trial in the courts, the principles were filmed committing other fraudulent scams wearing clothing displaying " our bahamas flag ". ( were they trying to tell the WORLD the news of corruption ????)
It Christmas and the corrupt, greedy and unscrupulous officials need money for their sweethearts to pay their holiday bills and the smugglers know that. We get on boat ( probably the illegals who pay the least bit money for their passage) as a gift and 4 other boats land their passengers successfully. We joining WTO and cannot protect the country's borders and citizens. whats tis!!!
one murder is too many. The RBPF and All law enforcement agencies should allways focus and work every minute on reducing crime including murders. thats the governments job.
