The school cannot replace the home.

Madam Director don't be shocked. Most of our public school kids come from dysfunctional homes. Just goes to show how much work that the school does to get them to be "normal" for 6 hours M-F.

Why buy those fancy US fire trucks?

All you need is a trailer head with a flatbed and a big tank & pumping system?

That's a fraction of what these fancy red trucks will cost to buy & maintain.

Same thing with ambulances ....... Why buy something that will not work after a year in our Third World country??????

Who owns MOST of these marinas in The Bahamas??? .......... Ans. Americans

That fact is been left unsaid by the Tribune.

Yes, some Bahamians make spin-off monies from the marina business, but the vast majority of the income goes back to the foreign accounts of the marina owners.

nation for sale 3.0

Under this New Day PLP Government, everything has been "for sale" ........... Passports, work permits, NIB cards, public works contracts, BPL fuel & engines, immigrant boat trips to USA, FTX, taxi plates, consultants, moorings, carbon credits etc, etc, etc.

We are in deep trouble in 242 😩😩😩

sheeprunner12 says...

How many of you recall this?????

The 242 Government (under Ingraham) and the Cuban Government made an agreement to send Bahamians to Cuban universities to train in many professional areas, including medicine.

The 242 Govt encouraged Bahamians to go to Cuba on scholarships, but when the 242 young ppl came back with their degrees, many were not certified, including the doctors. Was it the BMC or the Christie Govt that screwed up these young ppl lives?

But 20 years later under Davis, the same Government (& BMC) is now importing & approving Cuban doctors and nurses who were trained at the same Cuban universities as the Bahamians back in the day.

So, what has changed with the Cuban medical degrees & training??????

Our politicians are really stupid assholes. 🤬🤬🤬

sheeprunner12 says...

I agree fully with your assessment on price hikes. Slow cooking is better than air frying.

But, how do we assess what Trump is doing with tariffs against the rest of the world?

While the 242 Govt should be more subtle in dealing with these tourist groups that impact many Bahamians across ALL of the country, we must also be aware that MOST of 242 marinas are owned and operated by Americans.

sheeprunner12 says...

And what is so wrong with the 242 Government insisting that visiting yachts have AIS onboard????? These are OUR national waters. We should KNOW who is passing through it and collect our fees.

Why do Americans not want to respect our sovereign waters???? Or pay our fees????

Or is it too much for a "shithole country" to expect from citizens of Uncle Sam?????

sheeprunner12 says...

For decades, certain aspects of our tourism have been taken for granted by Americans. A glaring abuse are the casual yachters.

Now that our Government has "wised up" to the con job that these Americans engage in 24/7/365 in our waters, we hear them yapping about fees.

Well, if you own a $250+K yacht and you think it's too much to pay a few hundred dollars to enter our beautiful waters, and catch all the seafood that your hearts desire (for free), ...... then CYA.

If a Bahamian has a 30-40 ft yacht and wants to cruise the Gulf Coast or the East coast, what fees will he have to pay????

Just asking for a friend ....... 🧐🧐🧐

It is so amazing how our North neighbors can just pick up, change their lifestyle routines and embark on a joyride through their "backyard" with little concern for the real dangers that exist in living in this tropical environment.

But, I guess their global outlook shields them from the perspectives that we have as Caribbean peoples.

Happy that it ended fairly well for them. Millions of our ppl ended up at the bottom of the sea with no SM story to tell.
