I agree fully with your assessment on price hikes. Slow cooking is better than air frying.
But, how do we assess what Trump is doing with tariffs against the rest of the world?
While the 242 Govt should be more subtle in dealing with these tourist groups that impact many Bahamians across ALL of the country, we must also be aware that MOST of 242 marinas are owned and operated by Americans.
And what is so wrong with the 242 Government insisting that visiting yachts have AIS onboard????? These are OUR national waters. We should KNOW who is passing through it and collect our fees.
Why do Americans not want to respect our sovereign waters???? Or pay our fees????
Or is it too much for a "shithole country" to expect from citizens of Uncle Sam?????
For decades, certain aspects of our tourism have been taken for granted by Americans. A glaring abuse are the casual yachters.
Now that our Government has "wised up" to the con job that these Americans engage in 24/7/365 in our waters, we hear them yapping about fees.
Well, if you own a $250+K yacht and you think it's too much to pay a few hundred dollars to enter our beautiful waters, and catch all the seafood that your hearts desire (for free), ...... then CYA.
If a Bahamian has a 30-40 ft yacht and wants to cruise the Gulf Coast or the East coast, what fees will he have to pay????
It is so amazing how our North neighbors can just pick up, change their lifestyle routines and embark on a joyride through their "backyard" with little concern for the real dangers that exist in living in this tropical environment.
But, I guess their global outlook shields them from the perspectives that we have as Caribbean peoples.
Happy that it ended fairly well for them. Millions of our ppl ended up at the bottom of the sea with no SM story to tell.
Very true ..................... this so-called Westminster system is so skewed towards the PM that it is hard to call it a democracy.
It is totally ludicrous that such major decisions have to depend on the whim & fancy of the PM. And after all of these years since 1973, no right-thinking Cabinet or Parliament has seen the ethical challenges that this presents.
So, all FIVE PMs and their Cabinets are guilty of this complicity.
First of all, the PLP ghetto seats need to be redrawn because most of the inhabitants are immigrants today. If the voter list is expanding in the ghetto seats, then we know for sure that passports and voter's cards are been given out by the New Day government.
Natural road boundaries should be used to shift the 24 seats in New Providence and not create obvious gerrymandering.
Besides that, no need to tinker with GB & FI seats.
It is the failed state of Haiti that is at the heart of this North-South flow of cocaine & guns ......... The Zoe Pound is a clear & present danger to this country.
The PM is only saying out loud what MOST Bahamians think anyway.
There are only a handful of "real jobs" that Bahamians respect & aspire for themselves and their offspring. We know them too well ...... Law, medicine, business, engineering, then the middle level public service jobs, then the lower level trades jobs.
If a family has financial flexibility to allow it, a career in "the arts" will be tolerated. But, generally, kids who ask their Bahamian parents to support them in an "orange career" will get the same response as what the PM gave ....... After all, are any of his kids engaged in an "arts" career?????

How come only merchants, politicians or pastors can get OBE, MBE, or CMG etc??????
Oh, I forgot ............ The PM decides on what are "real jobs" in this country.

Where did these "household appliances" come from, and where were they going?
If the appliances were imported, where is the Customs paperwork and who cleared them?
This is not difficult to trace, if the PF wants to solve it.
