Haha. Honestman, I'm just saying that after years go by, people have a different way of framing things that occurred. I was just a little boy during the '92 elections - I remember parades in the street and people chanting, "L.O. (Pindling) got to go!". My mother thought he was a disgrace; a puppet of drug traffickers, deeply flawed, and very corrupt. Fast forward to today, and those sins are mostly forgiven. Ping is in our wallets, has an airport named for him, and his wife is the Governor General (http://www.nytimes.com/1992/08/21/world… (go a few paragraphs down for the corruption part))

I suspect this will be the same review of Christie... a lover of Junkanoo, devoted leader that did his best, blah, blah, blah. Knowing the way we do things, we might invent a $500 bill for him.

Christie is past his political prime. The image in the story is all too fitting; an inept, desperate, and out out-of-touch politician gazing woefully into flames of ruin.

History will forgive him at the right time; there will be schools, roadways, and other monuments erected in his honor at some point in the future. Today is not the right time.

The firefighters and other authorities seem to be doing a great job in light of the circumstances. Let's confront a grander issue though; the dump needs to be retired, covered in topsoil, and grass planted atop it. The population density of New Providence warrants creating a new landfill site on another island. Everyone hates taxes, but 2 - 3 dollars a month from all households will help defray the cost of this necessary step.

hmmm

Is it a full moon? All kinda PLP's getting vulgar now.

What's with every post starting with "Comrades!"? It seems akin to someone on a corner spouting nonsense. The PM was wrong. There (still) remains a certain amount of respect and class a leader should display; in any situation.

It's also time that the government invests in protections for the pigs as a tourist attraction. There should be daily checks by park rangers (or equivalent) to ensure that they have fresh water, appropriate feed, and veterinary care, if necessary. If there is bad weather, or loss of interest, do the pigs even eat? We live with an island culture, but can afford to be humane with a common-sense approach to the animals around us.

Sorry Leslie... a 'hang first' approach clearly demonstrates that you are out of touch and out of ideas. We can hang until blood runs from the gallows to the beaches. It won't make a difference. They have capital punishment in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran (and no Privy Council).

We need new leadership and proven strategies. Begin with a cultural shift (most don't like hearing this) but it is essential to combat the scourge of crime. We live in a country that glorifies guns and have lost respect for each other. Begin with reform in schools, while this is happening, let's overhaul our judicial procedures, and build a new prison.

After The Bahamas has put forth a concerted effort at education and judicial reform, and adopted a zero-tolerance for corruption, let's start hanging.

Ohhh.... NOW she wants to put country before party

This is so sad. I can't imagine what this mother is going through. I think there is a lesson to all of us... even in her grief, she can forgive.
