Yes, you did make those spurious comments. And in response, I tried to explain - testily, I admit - why your comments have no economic reasoning, much less humane sensitivity. In fairness, you responded with a bunch of babble that was beside the point and, as you perhaps did not even understand, only proved my point. Axing workers, forcing pay cuts, et. al, will have no material financial impact in the short run. This is economics 101 observer (google : David Riccardo theory if you disbelieve me). If this awful situation persists in the long run, then we can revisit you arcane and insensitive remarks.

Given your 4 year old logic and 2 year old response, maybe being locked away from simpletons like you is a good thing!

Neil Hartnell and his lets throw everything in the paper and hope it sticks reporting. I would call need an amateur, forst year journalism school reporter, but that would be an insult to the first year reporters. Man, Neil you are awful. No surprise, though, that The Tribune employs him. He is, after all, of good colour.

The implication in this post is too stupid to even respond to. *sigh*. We Bahamians are so daft. Observer, one question: lets say we follow your ill-advised suggestion and layoff certain government workers. Where do you think said workers will lool to for receive assistance? Answer: rhymes with "uberment". So, they become a strain on the economy regardless. Makes no fiscal or humane sense to release them...geez. Even releasing the contract workers, on the short term, is nonsensical...oh, I give up.

So despite all the meducal experts in the world suggesting otherwise - and more importantly all the empirical data that has shown that staying inside is best recourse- you say lets live and let live! Go outside, infect each other, nothing to see here. Ahhh, Bahamians, I need breaknfrom this comment section. Everytime I look at these half-senseless comments, I have to weep for the ignorance of my people.

tetelestai says...

We Bahamians are a silly lot. There is no reason, curfew or not, to swarm the foodstores like this. We get worse, it seems, every year.

The course of action he is suggesting will not lead to a devaluation. I support your right to express an opinion, but please make it informed. Dollar devaluation happens in specific circumstances, increasing austerity measures, having regard to the circumstances we are facing is not one of them.

You honestly believe there are only 4 cases? Come on, surely you are more intelligent than that. And, even someone with just an iota of common sense can reason that social distancing is a better alternative than letting the general population run around free. Madrid? New York? Are you even paying attention? Yes, you give up a bit of freedom now, but isnt it worth it if there is a sliver of hope that you can slow the epidemic? Sitting your ass at home for 4 weeks is a small sacrifice, man. And...oh I give up with you Bahamians. Whats silly is that someone actually gave a thumb's up to your nonsensical drivel.

This is not a tough decision at all. Human lives beat the economy every day of the week...it is not even a choice.
