Repost: "Tavares LaRoda, the New Providence Port Authority’s chairman, previously told this newspaper that the increases to fees that have not been adjusted for two decades were designed to try and catch up with, but not exceed, inflation that has occurred over that period as the Government seeks to incentivise more boat owners to register their vessels in The Bahamas."

What brand of rum this man drinking, does he really believe that increasing registration fees by 1,400% is an incentive for people to register their boat in the Bahamas??? Does this idiot even own a boat, does he have any idea what boat owners have to struggle to pay already in the way of dockage, insurance, maintenance, fuel costs, just to mention a few?? And how does the reduction of duty for first time boat owners benefit people who have owned their boats for years, for some of us a lifetime, are you going to give us tax exemption for every year we've owned the vessel? As someone else posted earlier we all need to boycott this brain fart until the government puts forward something more sensible and more equitable.

Wrong!! these holier than thou Neanderthals should spend the tithes on supporting all the unwanted children and abused women in our twisted society instead of on their lavish lifestyles in pursuit of mammon!

Mr Rahming’s ass kissing skills begin to rival those of the greatest Bahamian ass kisser of them all, the incomparable and irrepressible Ortland Bodie.
Not all were impressed with Mr Christie’s record in government as evidenced by him becoming the first incumbent prime minister to lose his seat.
Nor have many of us forgotten his finger in our faces gesture and which has remained indicative of how his party’s current leadership views the Bahamian people.
History will record Perry Christie as one of the worst prime ministers in our history, as for the current crew, time longer than rope.

@bcitizen, I beg to differ with you.
Many of us Nassuvians are small boat owners and weekend subsistence fishermen and divers as we can't afford to buy fish and crawfish at the price those same fishermen have to charge to even break even given their fuel and other operating costs.
Not only that, but my little boat is one of my main sources of serenity and sanity being able to escape the cesspit that Nassau has become for a couple of hours on the weekend.

Don't worry dearies, if past history has taught us anything, someone will kill him within a week or two.
Repeat sexual offenders, or repeat anything offenders for that matter, should be permanently incarcerated for their own safety as well as that of the public at large.

Three strikes and you're in, for life!

Well said Mr. Sweeting!

These gangsters have no conscience, they don't file their disclosures, they don't pay their property taxes or utility bills but none of them are fined or jailed as required by law nor are their homes and businesses repossessed or disconnected.

But they expect the average Bahamian who owns a twenty-foot runabout or a struggling fisherman to pay all those and still pony up $775 a year for boat registration and have the nerve to call themselves the party of the people?

I agree with your fellow Abaconians Mr. Sweeting, every single Bahamian boat owner should boycott and not pay this outrageous and unconscionable increase, after all what could they do arrest us all, confiscate every boat? New day my ass, more like Same Shit, Different Day!

These people couldn't organize a drunk up in a brewery or run a conch stand!

The question everyone should be asking themselves, regardless of political affiliation, is would they hire a contractor to rebuild or remodel their home under a similar "contractual" arrangement?

And do either Davis or Hanna-Martin know the difference between a wall plate, joist or rafter?
