Good luck going up against the UK, USA, France, Italy, Germany, Canada etc with that attitude. Not that I disagree in principal with what you're saying, but the Bahamas based banks that are holding the offshore monies for the individuals will, at the Head Office level, be domiciled in the countries I mentioned, and it would be oh so easy for their home governments to start fining them or shutting them down if the Bahamian subsidiaries do not comply

Another worrying aspect of this fiasco is that when (if) BahaMar is finally completed, there is now no guarantee that the tourists will flock to the destination. Travel agents, online travel sites and individuals will be closely following this story, and will be well within their rights to suggest that their clients go elsewhere for their vacation.

I'm guessing you don't understand sarcasm, because I deplore the status quo. This should be clear when you read what I wrote

I have no problem with our Chief Justices becoming "Sirs" - listen up.

It is a perk of the position, nothing more, nothing less. They get no monetary reward, it does not elevate them in the eyes of us normal Bahamians, and they only impress other toadies of the Imperial era. We are no longer impressed by the gongs and traditions of the Mother country and these "Sirs:" become part of the problem in our nation, and not the solution. They continue to live in the past and are not concerned with moving us forward. If I hear in the press of "Sirsuchandsuch" I suck teeth and immediately dismiss him as a lackey of the system, and a person of little moral character. I would be much more impressed if once, just once, a Bahamian man (or woman) would refuse the award offered to them, and insist on being decorated ONLY with our national awards.

August......December......next year.......who really cares at this moment? Just so long as we are not left with a 3.5 billion dollar white elephant. I'd rather they took their own sweet time to complete BahaMar properly than the parties continue to squabble and embarrass us on the international stage.

This is just another lesson in Bahamas Economics 242. They have to give the job to rebuild to another crony, so that he can give kickbacks to all the usual party honchos. If they gave the contract to the same contractor as before, even the PLP ***might*** feel some shame at how blatantly they are ripping off the country

A classic lesson in Economics 242....these fools say that low oil prices are a good thing, but BEC does not bring down our fuel surcharges. Screwed if we do, and screwed if we don't.

Whilst we're on the subject of the Carnival.....a notice has been posted saying that Fort Charlotte cannot be used until July 10th, as they are re-seeding the main field. I have two major concerns here....(1) They did not properly clear the millions of tiny pea rocks that were used as a gravel base for the stalls at Carnival. This means that forever and a day, the field will be a danger to anyone who does any kind of sporting activity. Those little stones HURT when you slide or fall on them. (2) They want to re-seed a large field in only 6 weeks, and then immediately have a weekend of Independence Day parades and festivities?

Absolute madness !!! But then again, what else should we expect from this bunch of clowns ?

What's so sad about this whole FIFA bribery scandal, is that small countries like the Bahamas were easily bribed to vote "the right way" on Russia and Qatar for about $30,000 per delegate. But bigwigs like Blazer in the US, and Warner in T & T made literally millions of dollars.

Amazing. Only in the Bahamas can we build a brand spanking new multimillion dollar unit, then realise a few years later that we need to actually put some equipment in it.

Ooops.
