Six months is how long it will take for him to tell his successor all the tricks and dodges that are needed to keep raping the country's finances. These bank accounts don't empty themselves you know !!
Thank you. This article very well sums up my frustration, anger and bewilderment at the way VAT has been rolled out. Nothing about VAT's introduction has been positive, and the Government already seems hell bent on blaming the retailers for all the ills we will face. We have already heard that supermarkets, cinemas and fast food outlets are caught in the crossfire.....how long will it be until so many industries are up in arms before someone admits that this was ill thought out? I will not hold my breath waiting for the Government to acknowledge it does not know what it is doing
I agree entirely. And it's only a matter of time until they start to follow their agenda against political opponents, by fining or jailing business owners for spurious VAT transgressions. This rotten tax will be the death of the Bahamas. Already today I see that the Tribune is making a fuss about Super Value and Galleria. How long before businesses just turn round and tell the government where to stick their VAT.
I think that this bungling Government has inadvertently (or deliberately - you decide) given the retailers a huge windfall by insisting on VAT inclusive pricing. Take supermarket shopping - there are some items that I basically know the price of, but come January 1st there is no way I will be able to calculate 7.50% extra in my head for each item bought. If a food item goes up 10% or 11% overnight instead of 7.50% will I know....no way !!
If the check out had one VAT add-on as a separate line, I could still compare the cost of each grocery item. It almost makes me want to start a Facebook page asking friends to note those items that they know the cost of, then see what changes happen after January 1st, 2015
We don't have to read very far between these lines to know that yet another chunk of VAT change will go towards increased parliamentary salaries. Let me guess - Vomit will soon declare that he and his cronies deserve an 8% pay rise
It is not "Government" but us, the taxpayers, who are burdened with this black hole. Do you honestly think that parliamentarians and their cronies will pay back their loans ?
When I finally changed carriers, it was the only time in over 30 years that BTC actually called me back.....they were desperate to keep me as a customer, but not to fix the problems that I was experiencing. Apparently this is why Cable Bahamas can boast that they have attracted over 20,000 subscribers in only 18 months - BTC's woeful customer service and connectivity are basically handing accounts to their rival on a plate
Sorry, but they didn't get the memo in my area. We had blackouts from about 3.30 am to 5.00 am this morning (Aug 6th) I know because I woke up sweating and the alarm clock was flashing the time it restarted.
He just keeps uttering stupid statements, one after the other. It's not like 3 or 4 are huge numbers to have to remember accurately, so why is he saying "about" 3 or 4? Can't he even count that far now, without having to estimate. The man is a fool, and is now becoming a dangerous fool.
